Load our last save or This game is awesome

#1 Posted by Winternet (8051 posts) -

So, they chose Freedom Fighters for the latest installment of Load Our Last Save. Super excited for that.

And, man, Freedom Fighters was a great game. Who is with me?

#2 Posted by Ghostiet (5305 posts) -

I am. I'd sure as hell see some sort of a spiritual successor to that.

I'm super excited I won a membership so I can see that.

I played and completed it on PS2 back in the day, remember really enjoying it but that's about all I remember - Giving me extra incentive to watch LOLS.

Freedom Fighters is great. Too bad Kane and Lynch killed any chances of it getting a sequel.

I remember playing some of it, once. I don't remember enough to form a coherent opinion of it.

I saw Freedom Fighters on the upcoming list several hours ago, and up to now when I read what this man said I thought that they were gonna do Freedom Force.

Read the Kane and Lynch thing. OHHHHHH. FIGHTERS!

Yeah its pretty good.

I always get Freedom Force and Freedom Fighters mixed up. Heard good things about both, though! Looking forward to this new installment of the LOLS :D

Fuck yeah this game rules. Excited for the feature.

Super disappointed they never made a sequel. One of my favorite games on the PS2.

#13 Posted by DeeGee (2138 posts) -

I remember this being really good on the gamecube.

#14 Posted by EightBitShik (1342 posts) -

I only played the first 5 minutes of the game at work once and never played it again. Regardless of this is going to be a good game or not it means VINNY time!

Oh, awesome. Love that game.

Man I loved this game back in the day. It had such great squad controls,

#17 Posted by steevl (203 posts) -

Yeah, this game was awesome. One of my favorites of the last generation. It's a shame we probably won't ever get a sequel.

The atmosphere was great! The story was a little cheesy at times, but I loved how they went to the trouble of actually making your character look a bit more grizzled as time went on. And then there was the whole thing where deciding to attack one objective would make other objectives easier.

Just seeing that they're doing a Load My Last Save of Freedom Fighters has made my day.

I thought Kane & Lynch was a way better game, but FF was pretty cool.

#19 Posted by TaliciaDragonsong (8605 posts) -

Great, gotta play it when I get home now.

I loved the game, it had something.

#20 Posted by Canteu (2821 posts) -

I still own this game for the original Xbox. God we played the hell out of the split screen vs.

#21 Posted by Jethuty (1023 posts) -

@ventilaator What list?

#22 Posted by Levius (1226 posts) -

Fuck yeah Freedom Fighters.

The only problem I can see is that the last level wasn't too great compared to the rest of the game, but I haven't played it in a long time.

The blame lies with Hitman. If Hitman wasn't so popular then they would have been able to make another Freedom Fighters. Instead the devs had to crank out 3 more Hitman games. Freedom Fighters 2 was canceled before K&L was even conceived.

Great game!

do you happen to have the GCN version? can you tell me if the PAL version supports 480p and widescreen? :)

#26 Posted by TaliciaDragonsong (8605 posts) -
@DeF: I have no clue how I even check that.

I just shoot things!

:D

sorry I forgot that it doesn't say that on the box on cube games. it could be mentioned in the manual or in-game under options. also, holding down B while booting sometimes enables 480p (progressive scan) mode even if it's not listed in the options.

could you check that when you have time? pretty please? :)

But does this link perhaps help?

thanks!

that link doesn't help, sadly. I've checked that and many other sites earlier today but none of them detail if that's just the NTSC version or also the PAL version. (usually mostly the NTSC versions supported progressive scan and/or widescreen and only a few of the PAL versions were blessed with those nice little graphical upgrades ...that's the reason I imported like half of my GCN library from the US via eBay. gotta put that expensive component cable I bought for my cube to good use^^)

@DeF: I see.

I'll report back when I find out^^

After watching Load our last save, I had to dig up my old PC games and played trough Freedom Fighters start to finish. Didnt remember how short the game actually is and the controls are much better with keyboard and mouse (of course..) Still fun little game and I wish there was a chance for a proper sequel someday.

What operating system did you play it on? When I'm trying to play it on Windows 7 it runs way too fast; I've pretty much tried all suggested solutions I've found out there without success.

I prefer the PC version too (when it works :) but it doesn't have a multiplayer mode, I would love to try it.

Windows 7 laptop. I had no such problems when playing. Had it at 1080p resolution (same as my desktop) The image is quite over wide but didnt bother me much.

#35 Posted by Swoxx (3008 posts) -

Played it on the PC, I loved that game so much.

I was just going to say. Pc here, also. K +M made for smooth controls as I remember...When I last played it it was Windows XP.

Too bad Kane and Lynch killed any chances of it getting a sequel.

Thanks!

Kane and Lynch was a third-person squad-based shooter, much like Freedom Fighters. However, Kane and Lynch did rather poorly, and using the Catwoman fallacy they likely determined that people didn't want a third-person squad-based shooter, not that it wasn't a good game.

FF is amazing. i played through it 3 times. 2 on ps2 and once on pc and got the hidden level liberty island cool little easter egg. i wish IO still owned the rights to this game because im sure theyd give us 2 but EA owns this property.
