#4 Posted by cyk0_Br (1 posts) -

are you downloading From Dust right now?

#5 Posted by Karlif (46 posts) -

Oh fucking great, US only!! Goddamnit

#6 Posted by TotalEklypse (1000 posts) -

Nope.

#7 Posted by InertiaticESP (61 posts) -

I've never downloaded anything from the MS store... how do I get it onto my 360? Or does it just give you a redeem code that you then use on your 360?

To those who used this method, do you get to download/play it upon purchase or do you have to wait until tomorrow like everyone else?

With the rare exception of content that isn't yet on the marketplace, for example DLC that comes with first-run copies of a game but isn't quite finished yet, codes can be redeemed early. It's how game reviewers get their copies.

You're welcome.

When you purchase the game you receive a download code. So far its i've been playing it. I really enjoy it!

#12 Posted by LordOfLetterbox (2 posts) -

No you cannot use your MS points to purchase the game through Microsoft store which is really crazy. I talked to a rep and they say no only credit/debit.

#13 Posted by LordOfLetterbox (2 posts) -

Microsoft creates this crazy ass currency and then will not accept them in their very own Microsoft Store, I am sorry that just seems insane to me.

Good for me.  Those banana bucks are the only reason I rarely buy stuff on XBL.

How big of a download is From Dust?

#16 Posted by DharmaBum (1048 posts) -

@Redbullet685: a little over 1GB

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet works too. 577MB, downloading now.,

#20 Posted by SamFo (1515 posts) -

God damn it! I hate having to be patient for these games to go up on the Australian store...

Wait, really? Er, if that's true, mind telling us if it ends up playing?

I'm downloading it now. If no one else chimes in before it's done, I'll let you know.

#23 Posted by cinemandrew (711 posts) -

@iDarktread: It totally works!

after someone's played a little Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, I'd really like to hear some impressions. I'm split between this and From Dust. Choices!

It's coming, just later as usual. Aug 17th.

#26 Posted by bwheeeler (422 posts) -

Definitely works. As to impressions, I've hardly begun - I'll probably make a post tomorrow on its own board, if nobody else does before me. Comparing it to From Dust will be apples and oranges, though.

#27 Posted by iDarktread (1206 posts) -
@cinemandrew@MagikOvenMit: Huh, well that's really neat.

Unfortunately, I want to use Microsoft Points on the games, so it looks like I'll be waiting.
#28 Posted by Turtlebird95 (2312 posts) -

Dammit it doesn't work anymore. No Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet for me.

#29 Posted by Swoxx (2988 posts) -

Shouldn't this be out on the regular XBLA by now? :(

#30 Edited by MrKlorox (11208 posts) -

Yeah it should be out by now, as of 20 minutes ago. Been refreshing the marketplace website and the xbox store as well, to no avail. I'll post when I find a way to get it.

#31 Posted by TheGreatGuero (9130 posts) -

I'm tempted, but I would have been a little happier if I would have actually gotten The Maw for free when I purchased Bastion. I got screwed over there. From Dust's $15 price tag has me in limbo at the moment.

Yeah, heard very optimistic things about it. Hope it's turned out well. Would be great to hear first hand impressions though.

Thank you, but I'll wait for the PC version.

#34 Posted by Karlif (46 posts) -

When the fuck is this comming to xbla? I hate waiting for shit to turn up there.

#35 Posted by Swoxx (2988 posts) -

The From Dust page on xbox.com just got updated with a "Buy - 1200p" button, however it only reloads the page when I click it. :/

#36 Posted by Swoxx (2988 posts) -

Available now, for anyone wondering

This.

#38 Posted by TimFReilly (98 posts) -

Just poopsocked From Dust after getting it a few hours early through the store trick. Kinda disappointed! A little more sandbox-y and a little less puzzle-y than I had hoped. Perhaps the challenges will be better for that. The fire tree stage also made me nearly delete the game. It's way too hard to make use of water plants.

#39 Posted by Aishan (1011 posts) -

I tried the demo. The camera controls are so bad. Really, really bad.

Might have to wait for the PC version.

This is definitely the biggest problem I am having with the game so far. Other than that, I enjoy the gameplay, art style, and the overall game design, but man, that camera needs to be a bit more fluid.

Some options in between "really close and low to the ground" and "view from orbit" would be my request. My TV isn't especially large so the super zoomed view wasn't as useful as I'd like.

#42 Posted by SamFo (1515 posts) -

Just finished demo, unlocked game and now have to complete demo levels again! Weak! But oh well.

#43 Posted by Vexxan (4616 posts) -

Like people have previously mentioned: the camera control is kinda bad and I'm having trouble with my villagers getting stuck and unable to move them, tried everything :/

Other than that the game's been great so far, being God is fun!

I'm having the same issue. I have found that I play mostly in the "from orbit" view so I don't feel so closed in and then switch to the closer view when I need to do some detailed material placement (like lava need a village or something).

Being God is indeed quite fun! I hope this game does well so we can see a resurgence of the God game genre which has been almost entirely dead for quite some time now.

#45 Posted by Swoxx (2988 posts) -

I'm having no problems with the camera. Just swapping between orbit view and down to earth, or down to dust if you will (harr harr).

played every level except the last 4 by now I believe. Lovin' it.

@Swoxx: Control fidelity giving you grief? I love god games, so close to picking this up.

Not me but apparently a lot of other people. You should get it. It's really fun. After I'm done with everything on a map I just dick around to get 100% vegetation, creating rivers, lakes and so forth. The way the elements react to each other are so smooth. Water tears away earth slowly and so forth!

#48 Posted by antoniocmf (32 posts) -

Where is the ps3 version ?

#49 Posted by SockLobster (456 posts) -

Where is the version that has normal load times and more than two levels?

I don't see it anywhere... :(
