Full Body Awareness is a concept that appears in 23 games

Shouldn't it be called something like "expanded body awareness"?

If a game is played in the first person perspective, then clearly you cannot see the main character's "full body".

That would probably be a better description of it, but Full Body Awareness is the common term for it, so we should stick to it.

In a 3rd person game, you can rotate the camera around the character, allowing you to see almost all of its body, back included. The same cannot be said of any game that can only be played in the first person perspective. Your full body doesn't consist only of the front of your hands and legs.
