Overview
An ape of many talents, Funky Kong has been a constant aide to his adventuring cousin Donkey Kong and his various hirsute companions. First seen running an airline in Donkey Kong Country, Funky allowed the Kongs to visit previously cleared worlds. He repeated this role in Donkey Kong Country 2.
In the third installment Funky's role was somewhat lessened. Thanks to gameplay tweaks it was now possible to exit one world and enter another without Funky's help. This led to Funky taking on a new role a boatshop owner. After defeating a boss Kiddy and Dixie will find a spare part to a motor boat, taking it back to Funky will then allow him to upgrade their watercraft allowing the Kongs to travel to a new level. . In Donkey Kong 64, Funky had changed occupations yet again, this time acting as a munitions expert. Trading his usual board shorts and bandana for military fatigues and goggles, he sold weapon upgrades and ammunition to the adventuring Kongs. This role is largely ironic, as Funky's dialogue in the DKC trilogy implies an aversion towards combat.
Funky Kong has since switched back to his usual ensemble, and has made numerous appearances in a secondary/support status role.
Funky Kong also appeared in the Donkey Kong Country TV show.
Beyond the DK Series
