It was CGI concept trailer, you really can't be serious?
Not only that but it was not made by Insomniac, but a third party.
Game » consists of 7 releases. Released May 28, 2013

Was going to make some sardonic post about how stupid this thread is...
...but it seems everyone else beat me to it.

Did Insomniac say that it wasn't representative of the game they were making at the time? Seems odd to let another company have control over the image presented with your game's announcement.
This seems fitting.

Even with the change in art style, the game is still on my radar.
After Resistance 3 and Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One I bet it was just Insomniac trying to figure out how the hell to sell more copies of their games (or at least make them not tank). EA doesn't give a shit if an EA Partners game fails. See Shadows of the Damned.

From what I read, it was pretty indicative as far as art style but apparently they had been shifting the art style away from being so stylized even before the trailer came out, but the trailer went through anyways.
You have to think about it as two different company's work. The biggest example I can point to is Dead Island and that trailer vs that game. (Also two different companies)

There was a hair in my Supreme Chalupa. Thanks, E.A., you dirty bastards.
Ag, that is disgusting. You actually ate a Supreme Chalupa?
You know what? I love this! A certain other forum I will not mention would have 20+ pages of people agreeing this is somehow EA's fault. I love you guys.

i won't generalize because we don't know who made the final choice to change the tone and look of the game but all i can say is i am quite a bit disappointed because this game just looks the same as any other shooter now, and the dark and gritty back stories don't seem needed . I will hold out for some game play and more details to judge like many others but at this time this game is kinda off my radar.
It's one, single, solitary screenshot dude.
There have been more info released for this game across a few gaming sites and there are more pictures out there. They have also given a brief description on the reason for the tone change and gave a brief back story of Jacob. So what I'm saying is not from just one picture . I've done my homework on fuse and its not very appealing to me at this present time. Now when they show game play and more in game footage maybe i will have a different song.

Do you have any sites that have talked about the game? This is the first thing I've heard from it.

Dead Island's trailer was straight up manipulation. They told an ad agency to do what they do best, and what they do best rarely has anything to do with the actual product.
I don't really have a problem with non-gameplay trailers so long as they have the same style and theme as the actual game, but here's two situations where I've been burned by this. It's a shame that the game I've been waiting a year to hear more about apparently never existed in the first place.

Well here are some links of the coverage that Kotaku and Ign did of the game and there are a few more out there like neogaf and the link the OP posted. I'm sure gaming press had a behind doors demo of the game and a video was planned to be release but was stopped because of some legal rights fiasco.

It's an EA partners game, which means they get greater creative freedom. Other games to come out of this initiative were Mirrors Edge, the first Dead Space, Shank, Deathspank, Brutal Legend, Bulletstorm, Shadows of the Damned, and Kingdoms of Amalur. Whatever direction this game goes in is entirely the work of Insomniac.
If it were any other EA published game, I'd agree with you. But I think you're wrong on this one. Just look at the work they did of their own volition with the Resistance games and then try and tell me you couldn't imagine Insomniac going in this sort of direction. It's idealistic to imagine they'd keep making things in a similar vein to Ratchet especially after that franchise didn't do very well this generation in the current climate of gritty war shooters and gritty sci fi shooters.
