G1 Jockey 3 is a thoroughbred horse racing simulation video game produced by Koei for the PlayStation 2. Although the G1 Jockey series had been gaining popularity in Japan, this was the first game in the series to be released in North America. In contrast to Tecmo's Gallop Racer series, which focuses on every aspect of horse racing (including breeding), G1 Jockey 3 focuses solely on the jockey.

    Overview

G1 Jockey 3 is a horse racing simulation game released for the PlayStation 2. The main mode of the game sees you starting your career as a rookie jockey. After making a choice of which Stable to ride for you progress through the year trying to increase your reputation and trust with your Stable and in doing so are introduced to other Trainers with their own stables who will also offer you rides each week.

One of the interesting aspects of the game is that you are pitted against 3 rival rookies in your first season, all competing for the coveted Rookie of the Season award, this ensures you are kept motivated throughout the long season as the rankings for each are prominently displayed throughout.

The ultimate goal is to eventually become Jockey of the Year and to have trained and retired a horse into the Hall of Fame.
