ORIGINAL POST: So, according to Telltale's Community & PR Specialist, the first season of Game of Thrones is still due to kick off this year:

I really don't know what to expect from this game, since I feel like Telltale have been spreading themselves pretty thin, and all we know about the game so far amounts to just the few tidbits we can glean from the announcement trailer, and the teaser images posted below. Shall we win or shall we die?

Maybe they're just trying to faithfully adapt the books by giving unrealistic release dates and then not reaching them? Though honestly it wouldn't surprise me if this was like a December game or something. They've got Wolf Among Us and Walking Dead finished for now, so they should only have Borderlands and Game of Thrones on their plate for now. The release date doesn't even matter so much because of the episodic format.

So, is Tales from the Borderlands also still getting released this year? I'd say I'm more interested in Borderlands than GoT personally, especially since TWoU and TWD have already given me mucho grimdark depressive sadness from Telltale already. That said, I'll likely buy the season pass for both... I just hope they'll be releasing on PS4.

Why couldn't they base it on the books instead of the inferior TV show? I've lost interest in the books, though, after only the first three. I want them to do something lesser known. The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us were new to me.

Telltale is definitely starting to concern me. I hope they don't fall into the same trap Bioware ended up finding itself in, trying to do too many things at once and finding that stuff ends up suffering.

I liked both The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us so I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy this as well. I'm not that excited for the Borderlands game, but to be honest I'll still give it a shot since after all the emotional strain the TWD provided me with, I need more comedy, which I'm sure Borderland would have.

Wonder how this will be integrated into the TV universe. It'll probably still be isolated from the rest of the world, with some short cameos, like The Walking Dead.

If you look at the teaser images, the quotes make it seem like the game will focus on characters we haven't even heard of (to my recollection) in the TV series, so we might get the best of both worlds.

For both this and Borderlands, I'm going to wait until the seasons are done. I felt with both season 2 of TWD and TWAU, there wasn't as much community excitement as there was for the original TWD season, probably because neither of those seasons where up to much in comparison.

Based on the teasers my theory is that the plot will follow a specific character's campaign in the north (I'm being intentionally obtuse to avoid spoilers). Hopefully from the perspective of one of the lesser houses in that area, I think that Telltale could get so much mileage out of characters and houses that aren't already expanded on in the fiction.

Either way I'm really excited, after I finished The Walking Dead I was telling everyone who would listen about how Telltale would be able to make a great game in the ASOIAF universe.

The game will have five playable characters from the same family, Telltale's senior vice president of publishing Steve Allison has said in an interview with International Business Times. Here's the quote:

We always will evolve our story telling toolkit from game to game based on the needs of each franchise and the creative decisions we've made. For example, Tales from the Borderlands adds multi-protagonist storytelling for us layered into the tailored narrative design established with The Walking Dead and it works amazingly well with two playable characters.

In Game of Thrones we're taking that multi-protagonist design even further with five playable characters from the same family whose choices affect everyone in the family, and that adds a whole new layer to things that we're really excited about.

Not sure how to feel about this, as I've never read or seen Game of Thrones. Maybe it'll get me into it like The Wolf Among Us did with Fables.

The game is listed as "unreleased and playable" at the Playstation Experience thing I'm going to during the first week of December. So mid-late December release, perhaps?

It'd be kinda cool if all 5 episodes took place at the same time, and every episode was a different perspective or something like that. It'd be different, at the very least.

Sounds more to me like five chances the story gets us to care about that protagonist only to have them brutally killed by the end of the episode.

It's a shame to think how the franchise's ''shocking character deaths'' are now about as expected as can be... I don't doubt that at least one of your protagonists will die, but I'd like to hope Telltale won't be as predictable as to just off each character per episode. Hell, even if they kill a previous protagonist in a later episode, that'd still be something.

This is a strange PR move, and pretty rare too in this industry. There are 2 months left to this year and they still insist this is coming out in 2014 and yet we haven't seen a single ingame screenshot. We have no idea of how it looks. they can't go with the Celshaded look again, right?

It is pretty strange, especially since they were for a time sticking pretty close to Tales from the Borderlands, only for it to suddenly go silent in favour of all of this GoT news. Plus with Borderlands we already know so much in comparison, so it's surprising as to why they wouldn't just keep that train rollin' into episode 1 before even bringing up GoT.

I feel like I've heard a lot of fans and media wanting games to become more movie like (as in less pre-release hype and previews and drip feed info and more just "okay here's the game and it's out!") but when we see some developers doing it people are so skeptical and down on the games.

Who cares? I trust they have a game to release and when they do and I go in pretty much blind I'll be happy.

Ugh....I thought it was its own individual story within the tv series fiction, little to nothing to do with the main cast and action. That kinda bums me out now. Now I'm afraid they are just throwing in characters from the series because that is what people want...but I believe people who are going to buy the game probably don't want that, or at least very little of it.

I'd like to think they're throwing around screenshots of the TV show actors purely for marketing and that those characters will only function as cameos, or bit characters at best. Regardless, I'm still intrigued all the same. Also, they certainly look rather nice at the very least. Huge improvement from TWD and TWAU if they're really indicative of how it'll look.

The first walking dead was mediocre and highly overrated (a strong first episode and the illusion of multiple paths fooled a lot of people) and I couldn't even be bothered to play season 2 past the first episode. The Wolf Among Us started out well but then just devolved into a mess that was obviously rushed and either poorly planned or redesigned halfway through. The TellTale formula of meaningless conversation choices, no actual puzzles, and short episodes that break up the flow of the already thin plot is pretty lame and I'm assuming Borderlands and Game of Thrones won't deviate much from that.

Also I hate when things like this use the actors from the TV/Movie adaption as models instead of their own imagination but that's a personal preference.

I just wish they were basing this off the books instead of the TV show. Hopefully it will be good.

I'm disappointed in the TV shows need to blaze through the books instead of giving the characters and scenes the breathing room they need to be meaningful. If they did that we'd have a better TV show with more longevity and GRRM wouldn't be so hard pressed to stay ahead of them (which is impossible at this point).

@rethla: yeah, that's the other problem. He devotes so much of his time to the TV show and doing PR it's slowing down his already slow writing pace. I really hope he finishes the series but the last couple books make it seem like he's a bit directionless at the moment (Stannis taking the entire book to march down to Winterfell, Daenerys being stuck in Meereen for an entire book)

@rollingzeppelin: Yeh but to be fair he has always been that way. Surely the TV-shows take up much of his time but he has always been the kind of guy that works on 100 different things at the same time in a slow pace and attends all kinds of conventions and happenings. It just so happend that one of his 100 projects suddenly caught wind and blew out of proportion.

Huh, what's with the PS3 version being released a week after the PS4 version? That's kind of strange.

I'm like a lot of others here - I'm pretty damn skeptical about this game, and I also feel like Telltale is spreading themselves way too thin. Here's hoping they don't do another 'Wolf Among Us' and make people wait four months between the first and second episodes.

It will be released episodically, but I'd imagine that after all the episodes have been released, there will be a physical version, probably about a year from now. That's how it's been for most, if not all, of Telltale's releases.
