    Overview

Fire 'n Ice, known as Solomon's Key 2 outside of the US, is a puzzle game released by Tecmo in 1993 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is a prequel to 1986's Solomon's Key, also following the first game's protagonist, Dana.

    Gameplay

Fire 'n Ice is a side-layers must try to extinguish fires by creating blocks of ice and having these collide with a flame. Dana, the protagonist, can push the blocks of ice if they are not connected to an edge, and can also climb on top of them. Dana can only create a block of ice in front of, and one tile below, where he is standing. The only interaction Dana has is the ability to climb up ledges and create, remove and push around blocks of ice. There is no jump button.

The game's puzzle mechanics start off fairly simple, but quickly grow in complexity. Eventually pipes are added as an additional way to traverse levels, all in the name of putting out small fires. The games villain is the evil wizard Druidle. Dana begins Fire 'n Ice as a novice wizard, and gets his ice magic from The Queen of the Fairies.

    Story

The story of Fire 'n Ice is told from the perspective of a child listening to his grandmother tell a story, similarly to the movie The Princess Bride.
