A Gatling gun is a machine gun that uses multiple barrels and a motor to fire an amazing amount of rounds per minute. Commonly mounted on vehicles or gunships some larger characters may carry a hand held version.
The Gatling gun was first made in 1861 by Dr. Richard Jordan Gatling. It is what many would call the most heavy duty machine gun. It fires amazing amounts of bullets per minute and is one of the most powerful guns when available in video games. The Gatling gun's main faults are that it's really heavy, so if a character is carrying one, it usually affects the speed at which a character can run. Another negative aspect about the Gatling gun is that in many cases, it overheats. This presents a problem since the player constantly has to check the heat gauge in order to make sure that the gun doesn't overheat or else it won't be usable for a certain amount of time.Not to be confused with Chain Gun.
