Cliff confirmed that Gears 2 will include an upgraded achievement based on Gears of War's original "Seriously" achievement. The freshly new "Seriously 2.0" achievement will require a whopping 100,000 kills to unlock. Yes, you read correctly, 100,000! But fear not, the achievement task isn't what you think, because "Seriously 2.0"'s 100,000 kills come from both single and co-op campaign gaming. So, no multiplayer kills will count. We say, bring on the Locust and give us our second helping of Seriously Gamerscore.

This is cool. But the main question is - will it count in Horde mode? You said single player and co-op campaign, and that makes me scared... It would greatly extend the mode if it was counted.

Yeah, that would make Horde mode even more awesome. Imagine if you could get the achievement your first time playing Horde mode! :-)

Oh man, awesome. I just listened to an interview with Cliff B. from X08, and he mentions you can chip away at these achievements (including Seriously 2.0) in ALL of the modes, including player matches. I honestly don't care if people boost for it, as long as it doesn't affect my gaming experience (such as the first), I'm fine with it. This is going to be awesome...

You can listen to it here: http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/x08-cliff-bleszinski-talks-gears-of-war-2/

"Update: We made a mistake! The Seriously 2.0 achievement's 100,000 kills are taken from EVERY game mode spread across the entire game. Meaning that every kill in campaign single or co-op, ranked or social multiplayer matches and even Horde games count towards the 100,000 kill finish line. Also, there will also be an achievement tracker notification that will randomly pop-up and update you on your Seriously 2.0 progress. Sorry for the confusion, we blame Xav ;)"

Eh.  Hulk would prefer it just being for multiplayer.  Allowing campaign stuff will just enable players to reload areas with large groups of enemies on the easy difficulty and just mow them down over and over and get the achievement in one day if they really want.

Takes away from the feeling of accomplishment Hulk got in Gears 1 when he finally got Seriously in Gears 1 after a month of joining ranked matches and dealing with the constant pain in the ass of bad teammates, laggy hosts, quitters, and the worst of all hosts that quit.   Hulk was looking foward to not having these problems since Gears 2 has such improved matchmaking.  It's no big deal but takes away some of the joy of a solid matchmaking system now.

Yeah it would be rediculous if single player only. I will still get most of the kills in multiplayer since I will play that the most

Omg you scared the shit out of me. I was really hoping to get seriously. And the first part scared me to death.

Still though this will take A LOT of play troughs of the campaign. I wonder how many kills you can get, per campaign run?

Forgot about horde as well. That is probably were most people will spend their time working on this. It seems you could easily get around 10,000 in horde in one night.
