I think the achievement carry over thing will have Kim. So don't fret, Kim died in the single player, but his soul will live on in the multiplayer buddy.

To clear everything up, xplodedd is right. Anthony Carmine died in the first one, and his brother Benjamen Carmine is taking his place. In order to unlock Anthony for online play you must have the achievement for beating Gears of War Act 1, and to unlock Kim for online play, you must have the achievement for collecting 10 COG tags in the original Gears of War. So hope this provides some insight.

Kim is still in multiplayer that is why if you got to the part where he died in singleplayer in gears 1 than you unlock him in gears 2 but Im playing as tai keliso

you can play as kim in mulitplayer

honestly, I don't think it matters. most if you haven't got it yet, then you are probably gonna wait for gears 2.
