Here's a new one. In an effort to drum up financial support for gamer charity Child's Play, Epic Games and Microsoft are giving fans the power to decide something rather unusual: if Clayton Carmine lives or dies in Gears of War 3.

The Carmines are the Gears equivalent of South Park's Kenny--they don't  catch many breaks, and end up dying in every game. But if enough people decide to let this third brother, Clayton, live in Gears 3, then he actually will. The catch is that this isn't a funded fan poll or a debatable issue on a message board. Your vote on the matter of Carmine's life and death will be counted by an Avatar t-shirt purchase or an in-person physical purchase at San Diego Comic Con.

I always play as Carmine online so I wouldn't mind if he lived. Also it's nice that it's going to Child's Play.

This is very cool. I love these cool ways to donate to charity. I hate to say it, because I should donate no matter what, but I like when companies take time and effort into making donating for a cause fun. If I had an xbox I would totally buy a Save Carmine shirt.

If Carmine lives he'll probably end up being the savior of the game... I say kill him off like his brothers. Even though he does look pretty badass. Sorry, Mrs. Carmine.

Hopefully they won't announce if he lives or dies before the game comes out. Would rather it was a suprise.

Save him because it would make some people PISSED and I would find that hilarious.

If this ends up with a scene with Marcus yelling "SAVE CARMINE" or with a locust yelling "CARMINE MUST DIE", I will be quite displeased.

This is cool as long as they don't post the results before the game comes out.

This is really cool. Child's Play should always be supported, as it's a really noble initiative, and cool way's to do it make it even harder not to do so.

Damn this Carmine looks like he's a badass but I have a feeling that the curse will strike again, maybe he won't but I just can't choose!

They should let this Carmine live throughout the campaign and then die in the ending.

I can't believe they even try to say  that Gears has anything remotely resembling a deep or profound story.

I say let him live.  After GoW2, I really wanted the third brother to be a total badass who was now extremely pissed about his brothers and survived.  Nice to see that we're getting that opportunity, and yay charity!

... and let the guy live, plus give him a fully developed character.  The Kenny thing works in South Park, it was funny in Star Trek  (Red Shirts)... but, uh, it's gotten old.  Though I'll admit Scientists dying horribly left and right in Half LIfe 1 never really got old.  Prolly cuz of how hilarious the voice actors made it sound.

Kill Dom, nothing like the best friend dying to make a huge impact on the story, he's dead inside as it is.
