Playing Gears for the first time on Hardcore singleplayer. The only thing worse than their bullshit accuracy through tiny cracks in walls is Dom's stupidity. BBE on MGS4 was easier than this shit.

Just after I had scoped out the area behind cover to make sure it was clear, I stood up and thunk.

It's pretty tough even if you have a human partner.

I really liked fighting the Theron Guards.  They bring a good kinetic energy to the game, change it up a bit.

And to further disagree with your complaint -- the pumping station is probably my favorite scene in the game.  When two human players take on the swarm of Theron Guards on Insane difficulty, and win the battle, there is little else as satisfying.

Also, I should make a thread like this about the song "Psychobilly Freakout" in Guitar Hero II.

I beat that part playing as both players with both hands, like that one dude playing Ikaruga.

I'll beat it tomorrow when my rage has subdued.

Pumping station annoys you? Wait till you have to beat the junker sequence on hardcore. You'll eat your keyboard. And mouse. And desk.

Aight nigguhs, it's been what, like 2 days? I beat that part after a few more tries. Breezed through the rest of the game and now I'm up to Raam. He is indeed tough. 3 tries so far. After 2 I still have no idea how to damage him. Third try I bugged on a wall and died :|

Current rating of GoW: 7/10

It feels pretty mediocre most of the time, the weapons feel underpowered with the exception of the Crossbow and Sniper Rifle. Enemies are usually a little too tough. There is little you can do to stop a Grub if he decides to jump over your cover and molest you. And even if you move in for a chainsaw kill, chances are you'll get hit first and stunlocked to death. Characters are horrendeous. Graphics and animations are smooth as silk though, and it's pretty satisfying gibbing your enemies.

I can't help but think this game would be much more enjoyable in co-op mode, but I'm on the PC version without a live account (el oh el), so it's not an option for me.

The game is made for co-op.

just keep sniping raam in the head, boom shotting him and throwing grenades.

Unless your on insanity you should get him after a few goes. The turret behind him you will find, is a trap.

I'm on hardcore. And I noticed that turret was a little fishy, not having any light and all.

its probably going to be tough single player on hardcore.

I would suggest a guide if you cant get it in the next 15 goes.

I hope it doesn't take 15. I think only the pumping station took me more than that. It remains the hardest part of the game for me.

On a side note, this game looks great. Very photogenic.

You're playing it on PC? Man, that's like 20 times easier.

Sometimes you just can't hear them (even when they're charging the torque). Really annoys me.

I remember spending near a full dusk till dawn session trying to beat the pumping station on Insane in co-op with an inept friend of mine. I don't thikn i've played the game properly since.

Took me probably about 10-15 tries to beat Raam. I may have unknowingly bugged him though. The part that always killed me was running to find more cover when he got close, when I won he decided to never actually get very close to me.
