It's my personal opinion that games just don't have the same magic as they used to. It could be that we're breaching too close to reality with the looks, and realism effects and character models based on people we recognise might be taking things a little too far. I can say that like me if you missed out on this game the first time around I implore you to get this game for yourself. If anything, this game set a pretty high benchmark for graphics on the Xbox 360. But you know what? It's just plain old-fashioned fun. Don't expect the next evolution in entertainment. If there is only 1 game on the xbox 360 that you own it must be GOW! I have spent countless hours annihilating the locust horde. My first impression of the game was that it looked superb. The graphics on the game are amazing with the dark lighting and ruined buildings giving the game a very eerie look that does border on the side of horror. As i realized i was still playing this game almost 2 years after it came out i knew it was special. The visuals are top notch and the level design in the campaign, while short, is very well done. On the down side the story isn't very compelling but serves its purpose none the less. For those reasons I give Gears of War 4.5 stars just incase Gears 2 improves on the first one (which I think it will)....

Where can I start with a game like Gears of War. This game has everything you could want in an FPS. It has an awesome single player campaign that you will play over at least 10 times. And a great online component where you can play up to 8 people (4 on 4). In a variety of game types from warzone to assassination they are all fantastic. I got to play Gears of War a bit after it had come out and hoopla was over but it is one of the best looking shooters and just a lot of fun with it's cover system and I loved the single player game. I know most liked the multiplayer but I just am not of a fan of one death during a match, too boring for someone starting out after the game had been out awhile. This fact becomes blatantly obvious when you see that one of the guns has a chainsaw stuck to the end, however, its not exactly lacking in problems either. Gears is both a refreshing change of pace from Epic -- who have been accused in the past of making pretty games that sell Engines and don't offer anything to PLAY -- and a realization and an extension of the core elements that made their previous titles such fun to blast away in.
