A Must Have Title
The story regrettably is not one of the games shining aspects, but you can just bypass that and concentrate on the games more appealing traits like the gameplay, sound and graphics. Another feature is the difficulty settings, and they are casual, which is basically the easy setting and it still is quite challenging at times. The other difficulty setting is hardcore, which is like the hard setting compared to other games. The final one is insane mode, and can be unlocked by beating the game. This setting is very, very challenging and it takes a superior player to beat the game on this setting. I beat the game on insane by myself, the challenging parts were of course the boss battle with General Raam and the first time you meet the theron guards( One direct hit with the torque bow will kill you instantly). This difficulty setting was named well, so take caution when attempting it.
The game setting takes place on another planet known as Planet Sera, where mankind has settled and has built a new civilization, unaware that there is another underground species, known as the Locust Horde, that don't seem to like there prescence. They make there prescence on Emergence Day by making a surprise attack and killing everyone in sight. The COG, Coalition of Ordered Governments, after the attack ordered surviving citizens to take refuge on the Jacinto Plateau which was a safe haven that the Locust Horde could not penetrate from the underground due to its thick granite. When the Locust began their attack on the Jacinto Plateau, Marcus Fenix abandoned his post in a response to a distress call from his father, but he was too late to save him. At his trial in the House of Sovereigns, Marcus was charged with dereliction of duty and failure to obey orders, and therefore was sent to prison. After overwhelming odds, the COG went to free all prisoners in help against the Locust Horde, and one of them was Marcus Fenix. After being rescued by Dom, they make an escape via helicopter. After that, you'll have to play the game to find out.
The only flaw in the game, and it's not a huge one, is that the campaign is kinda short. It could have been stretched out more. Gears of War is a game that should DEFINITELY NOT be missed by any gamer that is out there.
