The freshest arcade game since N+

As someone who was not a very early adapter to Xbox Live I never played the original Geometry Wars, so for me Geometry Wars 2 was a whole new experience.

The Xbox Live Arcade does have it's fair share of games that I wouldn't touch at all, however every now and then a nugget comes across that makes you more than happy to throw down that 800 points, and it seems that the games that do this are the games that have a simple idea and execute gameplay well and make it fun.

The last game to do this for me was N+, I mean the idea of that game, basically,  is to touch something to open a door then make your way though the door, on paper a very simple and easy idea, but mix that with you a ninja who can jump up walls it makes for a very simple and enjoyable game and enjoyable game.

And Geometry Wars is the same thing, your a ship and you shoot things, simple right? well mix that with speed, different types of enemies and 6 different modes and you have a winner on your hands, and a game that the Xbox Live Arcade was made for.

Some of the features it includes and I think is amazing is friends leaderboards, it keeps the game fresh and adds a competitve nature to the game, this feature definitely adds a lot of value to the game, also a great feature that ties into this feature is that the person who is next to you in the leaderboards score is in the top right coner so you know what the next score that you have to beat.

Overall this is a great package for 800 points and as for longevity, I think as long as your friends are playing this game and putting scores on the leaderboards this game will not get old.

    5/5 Stars

      Unprecedented level of awesomeness 0

Back in 2005, Geometry Wars was one of the leading Xbox Live Arcade titles, and it went a long way to justify that Digitally Distributed games could work in a console environment. Since then there have been numerous imitating Dual-Joystick shooters available on XBLA, so it speaks volumes to say that the release of Geometry Wars : Retro Evolved 2 completely surpasses all the other downloadable shooters that have come out previously.   What makes Retro Evolved 2 so outstanding is its ability to de...

The best $10 you'll ever spend on your Xbox 360. 0

During the initial months of the release of the Xbox 360, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved was considered to be the best launch Arcade title. It's addictive gameplay along with colorful, stunning High-Definition visuals made it a most-own. To this day, many still consider it to be one of the best Live Arcade titles, and one of the best $5 you'll ever spend on the system. So if the following is true and the first Geometry Wars is the best $5 you'll ever spend, then Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 is t...
