    Unprecedented level of awesomeness 0

Back in 2005, Geometry Wars was one of the leading Xbox Live Arcade titles, and it went a long way to justify that Digitally Distributed games could work in a console environment. Since then there have been numerous imitating Dual-Joystick shooters available on XBLA, so it speaks volumes to say that the release of Geometry Wars : Retro Evolved 2 completely surpasses all the other downloadable shooters that have come out previously.   What makes Retro Evolved 2 so outstanding is its ability to de...

The best $10 you'll ever spend on your Xbox 360. 0

During the initial months of the release of the Xbox 360, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved was considered to be the best launch Arcade title. It's addictive gameplay along with colorful, stunning High-Definition visuals made it a most-own. To this day, many still consider it to be one of the best Live Arcade titles, and one of the best $5 you'll ever spend on the system. So if the following is true and the first Geometry Wars is the best $5 you'll ever spend, then Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 is t...

Geometry Wars 2 is a definite, albeit small improvement 0

Geometry Wars is a perfect example of a game with the simplest of concepts, that's executed well and ridiculously fun for it. In this dual-stick shooter, you take control of a spaceship and attempt to keep the hostile geometrical shapes off you. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved brought the nostalgic goodness into the current generation with colourful graphics. Now, its single mode has been expanded into six in the sequel. Whether or not this new edition is worth the points to you depends en...

The best XBLA game so far this year. 1

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 is by far one of the best Arcade titles to be released this year on the Xbox 360. Retro Evolved 2 brings the same frenetic action and flashing strobe light graphics as the original, but now has even more variety with multiple game modes and 4-person local multiplayer. There are six different modes to choose from, which can all be unlocked through regular play. The Evolved gametype is still included, now with new enemies (which are also in the other modes) as well a...

Most Simply Addicting Game of All Time!! 0

Let me start of by saying this is my first review and I plan to do be doing more, with practice.           On to the game. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 is easily the most addicting game to be saved on my 360. The gameplay is so easy to pick up and it immediately becomes fun after you notice a slow progression of your scores. You get better and the feeling is rewarding.            Your probably asking how a game like Geometry wars can be rewarding in the sense of improving your scores. This is ...

As far as downloadable content goes, Geometry Wars 2 is about as good as anyone can get. I remember getting the first Geometry Wars based on my time with the original in Project Gotham Racing 2 and it was a really great game. The price was right, particularly versus the other games that were available during the 360’s launch. It was a nice simple way to show off a new high definition TV. This is the perfect sequel for that.I won’t summarize every mode. But I think they did the right thing by evo...

Wow...even better than the original. 0

I purchased Geometry Wars the day it came out, and it has been my free time killing game ever since. Now, I felt I owed it to myself to download Geometry Wars 2 the day it came out. It is AWESOME!There are new game modes, Co-Op, and even a updating friends leaderboard. The graphics are even better, and the great thing is, Geo Wars 2 actually scales to HD widescreen now instead of stretching to fit the screen like the original. If you are prone to seizures though...don't play this game lol!Out of...

The freshest arcade game since N+ 0

As someone who was not a very early adapter to Xbox Live I never played the original Geometry Wars, so for me Geometry Wars 2 was a whole new experience. The Xbox Live Arcade does have it's fair share of games that I wouldn't touch at all, however every now and then a nugget comes across that makes you more than happy to throw down that 800 points, and it seems that the games that do this are the games that have a simple idea and execute gameplay well and make it fun.The last game to do this for...

One of the greatest Xbox Live Arcade titles to date 3

At the end of 2003, “Project Gotham Racing 2” by Bizarre Creations was released for the Xbox.  While browsing their garage, the players could walk up to an old-school arcade machine and play a 2D dual-stick shooter entitled "Geometry Wars". To celebrate “Project Gotham Racing 3”, Bizarre Creations released “Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved” on the Xbox 360’s Xbox Live Arcade platform. This “Evolved” version proved to be popular, and “Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2” was released at the end of July in...

Playing Geometry Wars 2 made me wonder about the state of video games at the moment. All in all, it's fair to say that the seventh generation of video games has come out as one of the best yet, with retro titles flashing back and forth as if they're suddenly in fashion, as well as they more modern-artique sort of games for anybody who finds themselves lifting their jaws from the floor at the sight of the lusciously erotic new graphics for whatever the hells in fashion this week (Batman: Arkham A...

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 Review 0

As many Xbox 360 gamers will recall back in 2005 the Project Gotham 2 Racing minigame Geometry Wars was revived and brought into the modern age on the Xbox Live Arcade in the form of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. The game was one of the best received Xbox Live Arcade games the console has known and many a fan spent hour after hour of addictive game time on it. Now Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 has hit the arcade bit how much does the sequel improve on the simple but addictive original? Well it ...

Technically a great game; but far too frustrating 0

Mechanically, Geometry Wars 2 is a great game.  Sharp controls, colorful polished graphics, clean interface.  At first, GW2 is a lot of fun to play.  There's one problem, though, and it ruins the entire game for me.  Playing Geometry Wars 2 is, more often than not, frustrating as hell.  When the difficulty ramps up, you will die many times over.  Over the course of trying to top my friend's high scores, or beating Sequence, I became absolutely crazy frustrated.  I don't have a particularly bad t...

Perspective from a simple minded person. 0

This game is very colorful and there are many exploding things.  There's a lot of visual stimulus going on at all times.  It's very pleasurable, even when the gameplay is frustratingly hard.  I'm not very good at these types of games, and I don't think they're very fun.I want to compare it with the PSN games I've been playing lately.  Stuff like Echochrome, PixelJunk Eden, fl0w.  Those games are trying to be art, and I appreciate them for that.  But really they kind of give me a headache and the...

Geometry was never this fun. 0

When you scan the Xbox Live Marketplace for a new game to kill some time, you aren't looking for a particularly deep or big-budget Hollywood action game. No, you're looking for a game that may keep your attention for a few hours; a game that epitomizes mindless action with a pinch of retro flare. That's why Geometry Wars 2 is so special; it gives you fast paced action and flashy graphics that, albeit modern, have a subtle retro feel to them, but it provides a bit more as well. For something avai...

So good your girlfriend might dump you. 4

Geometry Wars Review The original Geometry Wars gave a taste to new Xbox 360 owners what the Xbox Live Arcade was really about. Short games that have small price tags but give you hours of fun. Geometry Wars was extremely successful because it did two things right. It was cheap and it was fun. The second installment of Geometry Wars stays true to the core gameplay of the first game, adding new modes and concepts along the way.             The first thing your’e going to notice about this game i...

Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 Review 0

Bizarre Creations became widely successful, with its downloadable launch game for the Xbox 360, entitled Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. With that, it released another game in late 2007 for both the Wii and the DS, called; Geometry Wars Galaxies. But finally, after almost three years, its true sequel has finally come with Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 regenerates the series with improved graphics, new gameplay ideas, new enemies, and five new modes to play. The fi...

One of the best arcade games on XBLA. 0

Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 is a great sequel to Geo Wars 1.The controls are still simple . It's even more colorul and bliding then before. Now with more than 2 game modes. Local Co-op Yes, while playing Geo Wars 2 I still found myself getting lost amongst the enemy shapes and dying.  And now you have 6 new ways (game modes) of dying.   Local co-op is fun, if you have enough people to play of course.  The reason why online co-op wasn't implemented is because even a split-second of lag could c...

    Geometry Wars 2 Review 0

Geometry Wars Evolved 2 is a sequel to one of the best selling Xbox Live arcade games, with it’s simple gameplay concept and beautifully rendered graphics people spent countless nights trying to get the highest score.  Bizarre Creations just couldn’t help it but make a sequel to the great Geometry Wars Evolved and this time around it’s better than ever before.Geometry Wars 2 still includes your favorite game mode Evolved but with an addition of a few more modes such as Deadline, King, Pacifism, ...

bizzare creations have done it again, with another entry in fabled geometry wars series. not since fur fighters have we seen such an epic shoehorning of good brain ideas into an exquisite tv game such as this.  bizzare creations put thinking caps on, and gave each other several thumbs up whilst methodically crafting a game played with 1-4 people (local only).  bizzare made game more challenging then before, with extra mode for your enjoyment, the graphics are real HD, and o boy! you can really t...

Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 is the sequel to the major hit Xbox Live Arcade Game - Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. It contains the same gameplay style you've grown to know and love but adds new modes and ways to think about playing. With the added elements to the game and overall visual overhaul, it turns out to be a game well worth your money.Since the last Retro Evolved that was one of the first XBLA games to be released, fans have been awed by it's gameplay and visual style. A superb, value for money package marred by lack of online play 3

The game mode was King. I was weaving in between enemies before taking refuge in my safe zone, only to begin blasting away at my attackers from the relative safety of my ring. A fruitless exercise in reality; as soon as I'd offed a few, twice as many appeared. At the very least, I'd cleared myself a path to the next ring as the boundaries of my current one turned red and began closing in on itself. That was my warning to move, so out I went and aimed for the nearby ring, swiftly evading all who ...

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2--Review 0

I usually don't do Xbox Live Arcade reviews, but I cannot go without praising this great game.Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved was the first arcade game i purchased over 2 years ago. It's still one of my favorite games today. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 is the perfect sequel. It takes everything that was great about the first game and adds more game modes and a harder difficulty.  There's not much to say other than this is a MUST HAVE if you own a Xbox 360. This game is worth much more than the 8...

The king of dual stick shooters returns for another round. 0

Remember when Grand Theft Auto IV came out and laid waste to every single imitator that copied one element or another from the series, yet still figured out a way to be innovative in the genre? Remember when Half Life 2 did the same thing?Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 achieves just that when it comes to the dual stick shooter genre. The original was a break out hit, first going from Project Gotham and then quickly becoming the most popular Xbox Live Arcade title. With the game's frantic top dow...

Retro Evolved 2 in the evolutionary step in the series. 0

Even if arcades have lost their prominence in the gaming industry, the type of games that helped make them so popular are not fading out. They are finding new homes on handhelds (Space Invaders Extreme) and frequently as downloadable games on consoles. Companies are not only porting their arcade titles, but creating new iterations as well. Two excellent examples are the highly acclaimed Pac-Man Championship Edition and the upcoming Galaga Legions, both for the Xbox Live Marketplace. Whil...

From Mini-Game to the Best on XBLA - Review by Kim Fidler 0

It really is amazing how popular the Geometry Wars series has become. From it's modest roots as a mini-game, to an XBLA launch title, to where it's at today with Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2. It's become the most well known title on the Xbox Live Marketplace, and if you know someone with a 360, there's a good chance it has Geometry Wars on it. To match its popularity, it has synonymously become known as the most addictive pick up and play title on any of the systems it has appeared on. If som...

A Whole New War with One Ship and Many Shapes... 0

No one expected Geometry Wars to become a gaming phenomenon back when the first one was released on Xbox Live Arcade when the 360 launched. Now after a Wii / DS release of Galaxies, Geometry Wars returns to its stomping grounds on XBLA with Retro Evolved 2 and it is still an amazing experience of one ship taking on various shapes, surviving wave after wave of enemies, and getting the highest score possible to show off to your friends. This is Geometry Wars at its finest and with six different m...

Geometry Wars 2 is the best LIVE Arcade Game to date! 0

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, you couldn't really go wrong. The original Geometry Wars hit our 360 consoles when Microsoft's much loved gaming machine launched, and to this day is still one of the best Arcade games around. But its also fair to say, that even though it was an addictive experience the game generally lacked modes and features that were common in some of the oldest arcade games. But its also great credit to the game that so many gamers were still playing it after years of being on...

A Feature Rich Sequel to Arguably the Best Xbox Live Arcade Game 0

Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 is a feature rich follow up to the 2005 Xbox Live Arcade game, Geometry Wars Retro Evolved, which offers several new game modes and 4 player local coop. The first thing veteran Geometry Wars players will notice after starting the game is that the default game mode, Deadline (the rest need to be unlocked), isn't what one would expect.  Deadline mode gives the player a three minute time limit to score as many points as possible.  The player has infinite lives but the p...

    What can I say ? Awesome... 0

I had been looking forward to this almost from the day I played the original XBLA GW, and it doesn't doesn't dissapoint. I am an average skilled player on the original but somehow after 2.5 years I keep going back to it, until now that is, with the release of GW2. We already got a taste of it in PGR4, but with 6 different game-modes on tap it surpassed my expectations (and the Waves mode that was featured as an easteregg in PGR4 is IMO the least interesting of the bunch). GW2 just pops, there is...

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 review EN ESPAÑOL 1

Finally Geometry Wars feels like a complete game... 0

I was a big fan of the first release of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved on XBLM but after a while the game could become repetitive.Well forget about that for a second, this new version of Geo Wars is all about variety. Without going outside of the concepts that define these games, Bizarre Creations have pretty much milked all posibilities out of it (in a good way). Instead of having achievements that force you to play differently, you get actual different modes. 6 in all, all unlock after playing e...

    Geometry Wow: Holy Snap!!! 0

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 is a great game.  Pure and simple.  It has the same great controls improved visuals and an increased difficulty.  While the first game had two modes(retro and evolved) its sequel triples that number and expands to six surprisingly different modes to choose from.  Bizarre creations has managed to grow a simple concept into a varied rewarding and challenging experience. There have been a number of changes to the formula but they add excitement to it all the way throug...

The Good:+ Same GeoWars action you've come to know and love+ Different modes+ Achievements seem a lot easier (but just as frustrating) to get compared to the firstThe Bad:- No online co-op, hopefully this'll be patched in.- Most modes get boring after a bit.- Some of the achievements seem based on luck (I'm looking at you treaty) than actual skill.? Why is it called "Retro Evolved" when there is no "Retro?"The Ugly::( Graphics. Why is it so colorful? I'd prefer an option to change the grid color...

    Just one thing missing... 1

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved was the surprise hit of the original Xbox Live Arcade lineup, and it could be argued that it helped pave the way for the direction it took into the "Not old game remake city" arena.  The biggest knock one could have with it at the time was that, while its main game mode was fun, that was just the problem: There was just the one main game mode.  Fortunately, Bizarre has come around and decided to build on the game, giving us the nearly complete package that is Geometr...
