Thank you.  One of the growing pains of a sie is when those kinds of kids show up.  They must be weeded out.

@Vinchenzo:
as much as I hate the "first" crowd, pointing them out isn't really doing anything to help either

1st quick look of the week here to keep me sane and occupied.

#8 Edited by AllanIceman (1321 posts) -

Woot new QL!

edit: Wow this game looks bad in every aspect.

#9 Edited by Atomasist (2818 posts) -

First Quick Look GO! Also Monsterdunk is pretty funny.

#10 Posted by jim_dandy (891 posts) -

I beta-ed this game. It's okay. TF2 is better in my opinion, and costs nothing per month.

#11 Edited by Codeacious (957 posts) -

Yes! I was hoping they'd do a quick look of this! I've been having a lot of fun with it on PC for a while with the beta, happy that other people get to see this.

EDIT: LOL, the queue was down when they got in! Very unfortunate- that doesn't happen too often, but does happen once or twice every day.

#12 Posted by Physik (36 posts) -

Ryan's version of the story is better than the actual game's.

#13 Posted by Milkman (16228 posts) -

MonstorDunk? Awesome account name.

#14 Posted by HatKing (5568 posts) -

lol There was a thread asking for a Quick Look of this game earlier.  I'm gonna start asking for Quick Looks for specific games. :P
#15 Posted by SlashDance (1758 posts) -

I am not in this game !

#16 Posted by Rebirth1337 (795 posts) -

Wow this game looks like shit.

#17 Edited by jkz (3957 posts) -

Unobtanium......

Oh and this game looks like utter shit. Luckily, I don't need to worry about my journalistic integrity or anything, so I can just come out and say that this game seems to have absolutely no redeeming qualities.

Everything about this game looks like a mediocre mod. How can this warrent $12 a month. $12 full stop would be too much.

#19 Posted by Demonstride (865 posts) -

No offense, but that game looks absolutely terrible.

#22 Posted by fuzzy510 (206 posts) -

I wonder if I wouldn't think this sucked so much if Mass Effect 2 hadn't just hit.

Naaaaaaaaaaaah.  Who am I kidding? It's garbage.

#23 Posted by Bobdaman18 (700 posts) -

Heh, i saw that i was second after i made the original post so i edited it to add first cause i knew i'd bother someone, what do i win?

#24 Posted by Dirty_Harry (717 posts) -

This reminds me of Tribes vengeance and crime craft.

#25 Posted by LiquidS (970 posts) -

Some great respawning positions... =/
#26 Posted by TheIneffableBob (243 posts) -

The graphics look pretty good to me.

At what point does a game become so not worth playing that a quick look simply consists of a brief  Ad Council PSA styled message?

*iris fade out to reveal one of the GB crew looking stoic facing the viewer*

"yo, have you heard about [Generic Game Title]?  No?  Well, don't worry about it, it's better that way."

*catchy musical flourish, iris fade in to the GB logo and some sort of "now you know" type catch phrase*

I think this Quick Look could have benefited from something like that and would have saved me 30 minutes of my life.  I kept hoping it would get better, I stuck with it until the end, upon seeing "Duder, it's over!" my only reaction was a small, bewildered grunt and an odd empty feeling.

Maybe I just need a sammich.

I was desperate for a PC shooter that I thought this game was good. Then I played the BFBC2 beta. Nuff said. lol. Period.

#29 Posted by DannyJ (445 posts) -

So that last mode is basically a ripoff of Payload from TF2...

Actually when you get down to it, the whole thing is almos- *Gets shot*

once or twice a day you are unable to play portions of this terrible game? Sounds amazing...

This looks like an unreal online mmo sort of deal, cept if there was a big official unreal online mmo out there it would be way more compelling. I think there's that browser based one, arena or something.

Same. I've been playing BFBC2B nonstop for a while now.

Been playing the game since beta, I really enjoy it.  There are some interface issues when it comes to stuff in town, but the actual gameplay of the levels is pretty fun and rewarding.  Good class mechanics, skill builds make for a bit of variety, and armour allows for a lot of unique looking players within classes.

Worth noting (a point of oft confused) that the monthly fee only applies to the Conquest strategy-game aspect of the game, everything else is included in the game.

Conquest isn't active yet, so I can't say how that adds or detracts from the game, but it sounds promising.

#33 Posted by Branthog (7332 posts) -

I have been thinking about pre-ordering this, but decided against it because I wasn't sure I'd really play it that much. It looks like a newer version of Planet Side, which isn't necessarily an awful thing to be.

#34 Posted by GunnBjorn (2911 posts) -

I'm totally, utterly, truly indifferent about this game...
#35 Posted by milkman4591 (110 posts) -
@SlashDance: fantastic name. thank you that is all
#36 Posted by Yit (765 posts) -

Thanks for the QL. I was staring at this in steam for some time today.

RASTADAMS!

#38 Posted by fox01313 (5033 posts) -

Game looks okay for an mmo on UT3 engine, glad to see they're using lots of stormtrooper technology to build guns, next step is ewoks blowing up a death star & a wookie christmas special. Just more reason for me to pick up some neat ideas off the quick look & get ready for Star Trek online to play instead of this.
#39 Posted by milhous (15 posts) -

Where they start trying to make up the game's story while looking at the title scene is f'ing hilarious. I half-expected that a publisher was going to bust into the GB Offices with a huge novelty check and offer them $2m to develop a shooter based on a sci-fi corporate post-apoclytic cyber-genetic soldier faction game called "The Quickening"

Chicken in the kitchen.

Stop me if you've heard this one before: TF2 and a horrible korean mmo step into a broken teleporter....

#42 Posted by HCARyan (47 posts) -

It's like they took Tribes, took out the fun game mechanics (jetpack + shooting), and changed the weapons into bullet hoses (Tribes used precision based weapons). Then tried to combine that with Team Fortress 2 game modes but completely disregarded decent level design in both terms of game flow and aesthetics.

It's actually pretty insulting that they're ripping off two of my most favorite, and arguably some of the best PC first person shooters ever created without adding anything innovative or unique of their own.  I suppose they have melee, but hey, TF2 did that better also.  Actually it's pretty funny how a game that came out in 2007 looks better, has better sound, has better levels, and has better style and design, and is also free to play after a purchase of only $20 (and has gone as low as $2 when on sale).

Now I'm not saying no one can ever do jetpacks in a game or payload gametypes ever again.  But if you're going to do them you better damn well take a step forward.  Instead we've got jetpacks with the balls cut off, and the worst, most bland payload map I've ever seen.

I hope there aren't too many people taken in on this shill of a game.

@SlashDance:  Royalties are a pain! :)

@Phunk_King:  Games that bad don't necessarily deserve quick looks.  Not every game gets a review either.  The absence is telling. While they're not always entertaining, I like QLs for the first-impressions value, and I'm sure developers do too.
I'm more likely to watch (or at least listen to) a QL of a game I've never heard of, than read a story on it.
But I do wish there were more news stories on GB.  As you say, the vids are quite a time investment.
#45 Posted by ThePantheon (676 posts) -

love you guys for QLing this. i emailed about it and BAM here it is. you're the best.

also i will not be getting into this game.

giant bomb wins once again!

#46 Posted by Addfwyn (1914 posts) -
@HCARyan:
Actually, I prefer it over either of the games you mentioned, especially for the persistent 'your victories actually matter' bit.

Then again, I play a sniper recon (which is hard as heck) so I don't really have much of the bullet hose issue as you said.

That's pretty accurate.  Its basically a TF2 rip-off that doesn't understand what made TF2 good (and fun.)  It will amuse most people for a few weeks.

Well if you're having fun your best bet is to just ignore someone like me anyways.  Besides, I thought TF2 was game of the year 2007, 8, and 9.
