God of War: Chains of Olympus Review

The Good: A great game from start to finish. Highly enjoyable combat. Superb graphics and sound. Fun boss battles. An interesting story.
The Bad: Short. Lack of bosses throughout the game.
    ---
The God of War series was one I never had the chance to play due to not owning a PS2. Luckily, Chains of Olympus came out on the PSP so I finally had a chance to play it. After completing it, I am stunned. Chains of Olympus is simply great. It is an enyojable game from the minute your turn it on, to when the credits begin to roll.
Chains of Olympus is a bloodbath. You control Kratos and slash your way through hordes of varioius creative enemies. As you further get into the game, the foes gradually become stronger and more challenging. The controls in the game are great. The attacks you can perform seem limitless, due to all of the upgrades in your weaponry and the various combos you can perform. As you progress, you will get new upgrades to aid you in your quest. These new powers help significantly, whether it be to defeat enemies with heavier armor, or to aid you in solving many puzzles, each new thing you find feels quite rewarding to unlock.
Unfortunately, the game is only around 5 and half to 6 hours long. It took me around 5 and a half, and I am completely new to the series. While it has its many puzzles, the game falls way to short to satisfy some gamers. I thought it could have been a bit longer, but was happy with the legnth. My favorite part of the game had to be the boss battles. Even though there are not that many of them, Kratos is occassionally put up against a boss. These foes are not always colossal, but they all take some strategy to defeat. In order to finish these foes, Kratos has to deliver an awesome and oftentimes bloody finish. By pressing specific button combinations, the bosses will go down. It is so awesome to watch these finishing attacks. You can frequently optionally finish enemies the same way too, which is always a terrific thing to watch.
The visuals in this game are great, and I think they are the best on the PSP so far. I particularly enjoyed all of the various environments Kratos goes to throughout the game. The sounds also are superb. The voices are done well, and the music always fits the mood right. Overall, everything about this game is excellent. Albeit the game's shortness, God of War: Chains of Olympus is ultimately a fun game. Its story is intersting, the graphics/sounds are good, and most importantly, it is just fun to play. I highly encourage gamers to buy this game, and think it is suitable material for a nominee as one of the greatest portable games of 2008. Thanks to those who read. Peace,

God of War: Chains of Olympus is a PSP exclusive prequel to the critically acclaimed PS2 game God of War. Once again, players take up the mantle of Kratos, the notorious Ghost of Sparta, during the early years of his service to the gods. The main story of the game is that Helios, the god of the sun, is knocked from sky and Morpheus, the god of dreams, is slowly taking over the land. So, the gods task Kratos with returning Helios and his chariot to their rightful place. But as the story progresse...

Chains of Olympus does not dissapoint. 0

When I first got CoO I had read heaps of Gamespot and IGN revews saying how dissapointing this game was, so when I got it I had my doubts. But when I started playing CoO those doubts vanished. I will tell you why...Like all God of wars so far there is a complex and intriguing story, it is a lot more focused on Kratos's past and family like the first God of War game. This game is set before the first two games where Kratos is a servant of the Gods of Olympus, and is still trying to rid himself of...
