This game is like tomorrow, on account of it NEVER DIES. It's amazing, it's spectacular, it's been talked about to death. So instead of regaling you with the same boring reviews that absolutely EVERYONE has already written about this, let me instead tell you 2 quick little fun anecdotes relating to it:
#1: I had a friend once named Rudy. For Christmas 1997, all Rudy wanted more than ANYTHING else was GoldenEye on N64. He wanted it so badly he could taste it. It was all he ever talked about for months & months. Since his family is from Jamaica, Rudy & his parents packed up and flew down to the Caribbean to spend Christmas with the rest of the family. On Christmas morning, Rudy's parents told him, "We got you GoldenEye. But it's back home. In Canada. And we won't be going back for another week". Needless to say, Rudy returned from the trip looking & acting like Gollum until he could get his hands on the game.
#2: A few weeks ago (April 28th, 2012, to be precise) I had a surprise birthday party at my place for my mom. My cousins and I got bored as the night grew on and eventually we dusted off the Nintendo and played a few rounds of GoldenEye. FIFTEEN years later, and it's still the go-to party game. That, my friends, is lasting appeal.
