The inverse of an anti-hero. An anti-villain is a villain that portrays him/herself as someone who is just and altruistic while is secretly working towards an otherwise nefarious and villainous goal. Common archetypes of anti-villains are politicians and religious figures who craft a wholesome and good-natured image to hide their evil intentions; this may even sometimes include doing good deeds, but only as a temporary measure to potentially further their true ambitions.
Games which feature creatures who make use of the natural excretions of their body to lay waste to their enemies.
Games that encourage the beating of small and/or defenseless creatures.
A concept in games with multiple characters, a screen with pictures of all playable characters with the possibility of stat listings.
A character in a game who uses unorthodox moves, and who likes to play 'practical jokes' on opponents. This makes losing to him/her all the more humiliating.
A non-interactive sequence within a game most often used for plot advancement.
These prehistoric behemoths cause chaos amongst many. Unfortunately, they are extinct.
Any type of lifeform whose species is on the brink of extinction. Important characters being "the last of their kind" was once so common in fiction that it has become a mocked cliche.
Games featuring guests introduce playable, established characters from outside of a franchise. Primarily but not exclusively seen in fighting games.
Joke characters are characters in video games that provide humor, and are often parodies of characters from other games, or parodies of famous celebrities.
These games are based off of established licenses, such as movies, comics, or TV shows. Examples are the James Bond 007 and Spider-Man franchises.
Regenerating health is a gameplay mechanic which automatically refills the players health bar after successfully escaping damage for a set amount of time. It is typically seen in RPGs and modern first/third-person shooters.
