Are Goomba's evil?
Just think about being a Goomba is todays age, for centuries Mario has killed Goomba after Goomba, ending generations of Goomba's without really stopping to care about the lives he has just taken. Mario just goes about on his day, now if I was a Goomba wouldn't you see Mario as being evil. He goes around just killing so many Goomba's to save the princess, where as the Goomba's fight him because he has killed so many Goomba's.
I will ask again, are Goomba's evil?

If Goomba's follow Bowsers orders without thinking, then they are part of a large problem and because so become evil. Because anybody that is willing to kill somebody without even thinking about it is evil.
well honestly, is it really their fault that mario is so weak that if not taking mushrooms, they can kill him just by running into him?

The question is, do they even have the capacity to perceive that they are killing?

and a goomba's job is to walk. It is not to kill Mario, that is what the other enemies are for.
In Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy they will run at Mario, how do you counter act this!
they were confused by the jump to 3d.
tehy are not actually running AT mario, they are trying to get on his virtual plane.

The Paper Mario games have pretty intelligent Goombas, the one from The Thousand Year Door was pretty smart because she was the one that identified enemies.
Also one in Super Mario RPG was smart enough to run a shop, have kids, and get away from Bowsers gang. As a matter of fact Bowser's entire army (which was like 5 goombas, 5 koopas, and 5 magikoopas) disbanded and found work elsewhere.

In Paper Mario Sticker Star they will run at Mario, the first boss is against a whole army of Goombas.

But are those games like... canon? Neither are in the main Mario series. Hopefully this is the only time I ever question the continuity of the Mario universe.

Maybe from the goombas' perspective they are simply defending their home. All they know is that some guy in overalls is stomping their brothers and sisters. I don't think we can assume that Bowser is keeping them up to date on the princess' kidnapping, so how can they know that they are working on the side of evil?
(This, of course, assumes that the princess is herself not evil, and that Bowser doesn't have a morally defensible justification for her abduction, which he may.)
You are being a horrible racist. If you look at the Paper Mario franchise you see that only the radical goombas are in Bowsers army. You've completely ignored the population that has a rich and diverse culture of tattling and archeology.

Are any Mario games Canon? Mario dreamt up Shyguy and Birdo, but they still exist,
Here's my Theory, all Mario games take place on a branch of the Zelda timeline, PROOF, Mario enemies and characters appear in Links Awakening, the game that was all a dream. Then In Super Mario RPG you can see Link Sleeping. Follow the Windfish.
Bowser has an Orwellian dictatorship over the Goomba, this has been established canon since Mario RPG. They've expressed that they want to "seek revenge against all who have treated them poorly" but all their goals seem based around Bowser's self interest.
If you've been playing a Mario game you've been executing through crushing the cartoonized manipulated citizens of an Orwell novel. I bet that makes you feel like an asshole now.

It does seem to be a large scale, multi-species effort in the fight against Mario (and presumably the Mushroom Kingdom). Is it possible that Princess Peach is leading some sort of pro-Human/pro-Mushroom person regime that excludes other races?
Whoa. Next time I'm just going to leave her with Bowser.
They have no free-will, they are Bowser's genetically engineered soldiers, which is why they have no genitalia.
I'm gonna say they follow Bowser partly because they're lost without him and partly out of fear. Not necessarily because they're evil.
You're all a buncha tree huggin libertarian goomba lovin hippies!! Suuure let's not blame em for what they do let's just all welcome em into our homes! You just wait till the reds are kickin down your front door then you'll see!
THAT IS NOT HOW YOU USE POSSESSIVE APOSTROPHES ARGH.@ImmortalSaiyan: If you think about it, Goomba's are just fighting for what they think is right, as is Mario. Mario VS Goomba is just a way of explaining a war to children, both sides think what they are doing is right when really neither side is right.

You and Fattony12000 should go out on a date. You both have a lot in common, such as your shared love of the Caps Lock and/or Shift keys.
