An epic stumble at the finish line 2

I'm not a big fan of the new, austere, Mr Serious Batman. I'm a huge big stupid fan of 60s Adam West Batman. Gotham City Impostors is a delightful Batman game to me, because it plays with the 60s Batman henchmen idea (catwomen's henchmen all wearing mouse ears for instance) and applies it to the team based first person shooter. As a Batman game, it's funny, charming and honestly a bit of a breath of fresh air in all this serious drabness.I didn't have big expectations of this game, to be honest....

A Refreshing Take on Both Batman and Multiplayer Shooters 0

You can look at Gotham City Imposters as a kind of time capsule for the first person shooter genre from 2007 till now. Almost every single popular concept from the most popular first person shooters is here in some way, shape or form with many coming from the flagship shooters ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ and ‘Team Fortress 2’. This seems like a somewhat successful recipe but with the added boost of the Batman property, Monolith has created something that despite borrowing bits and pieces fr...

You wanna get nuts? Come on, let's get nuts! 0

The announcement and subsequent release of Gotham City Impostors brought with it pretty much a unanimous reaction: "wait, what?" A first-person shooter from the team behind such franchises as No One Lives Forever, F.E.A.R and Condemned based around the Batman universe? It is kind of an honest reaction though since the very concept is just so bizarre and in the multiplayer space occupied by Halo, Gears of War, Battlefield and the juggernaut that is Call of Duty, not to mention the countless me-to...

Gotham City Impostors First Impressions 0

Just the other day I got an email invitation to participate in the beta for Gotham City Impostors. I remembered hearing about this game awhile back, but hadn’t given it much thought since then. The premise of the game is that Batman and The Joker both have crazy fans, and they try to help their respective idols by strapping on makeshift costumes and running around shooting at each other. In one of the cutscenes I was shown, the “leader” and the Bats stated that Batman has vast wealth to afford n...

    Why So Serious? 0

Gotham City Imposters developed by Monolith (Fear series) and released in early 2012 is a team based first person shooter that draws heavily on call of duty and team fortress. The combination of those two games seems like a winning formula, but nagging server issues keep the great gameplay in Gotham City Imposters at a minimum. The core gameplay to Gotham City Imposters is almost a direct adaptation of the two previously mentioned games. The game combines the gunplay and core of call of duty in a...

"Impostor" just about sums it up 0

Batman is known for two things: being ridiculously cool, and having a ridiculously dedicated fanbase. Naturally, it would make sense to dedicate an entire game series to him that encompasses his trademark badassery. I mean, come on, who wouldn't want to play a game about the Caped Crusader? He's got a nearly superfluous amount of gadgets, is trained to single-handedly destroy a group of six or more people in hand-to-hand combat without so much as a scratch on him, and is highly intelligent, not ...

An interesting take on the genre of multiplayer exclusive gaming. 0

Gotham City Imposters is a game in which two gangs sporting either Batman or Joker inspired garb run around trying to kill each other. The two teams are the Bats and Jokerz. Upon entering a match (assuming you can that is given there have been a not inconsiderable number of problems on pc related to match making) you will be given a team and you will then have to either kill as many people as you can or kill as many people as you can while completing objectives involving holding a location or fi...

An interesting premise with some cool gameplay hooks. 0

I'll be completely honest here: up until about a week or so before launch, I had no idea what Gotham City Impostors was. Sure, I had heard of it, but apart from the name, I was completely clueless. Based on the name alone, I figured it would be some sort of MMO-type game, and I still maintain that the name and premise would work well for that kind of game. The premise is pretty simple: a bunch of wannabe vigilante Batmen go against a bunch of wannabe Jokers in standard multiplayer shooter scenar...
