Well, they're both modern driving games, one is a traditional track racer with a lot of sim and the other one is action. If you want cops VS robbers modern driving there's only one choice.

Poll: GT 5 is out, but based on opinion around the web, do I go with GT 5 or NFS: Hot Pursuit for a modern driving game?
Depends whether you like arcade racers like Burnout or more realistic sims like Shift and Forza. It's hard to compare the two directly head-to-head because they cater to separate ends of the driving genre.
I didn't have a choice between driving games, so I picked up Hot Pursuit. It's well worth the purchase.
You can't compare arcade racers and driving simulators. They're both good examples of their respective genres. Whatever floats your boat.
Echoing everyone else's comments, you're comparing apples to oranges. Your choice should be based on personal preference. GT is great for people who really get into tuning cars and driving realistically; adrenaline junkies will be bored to tears by it. NFS:HP is great for adrenaline junkies, but gearheads probably would prefer a bit more sim in their racing experience.
I honestly can't see the appeal of arcade racers, especially anything with NFS on it. There all just incredibly obnoxious in my opinion.
TC I had the same dilemma. In the end I went with GT5, opting to replay Burnout Paradise if I ever need that er, need for speed. Down the line when NFSHP goes down in price I will pick it up.
Just out of interest - did any of you guys enjoy GRID?
I'd vote for GT5 - I only wish I was half as good at GT as I am at Burnout.
" Just out of interest - did any of you guys enjoy GRID?"I enjoyed GRID quite a bit, and still have it. I also have Burnout Paradise.
Judging from opinions on here and the poll, looks like GT5 wins, though. I know they are different genres, I was just curious as to the opinion of GB readers based on picking just one for a holiday game.
Thanks everybody for the input...probably picking up GT5 today, and as others mentioned, playing GRID or Burnout when I get that urge for more arcade-style racing.
GT5 is kind of a time-piece too...we'll remember it (and its development cycle) for decades!
" Get Burnout Paradise. "I cant understand why everyone likes this game so much........get GT5.
" @nintendoeats said:If you don't get it, I don't think you ever will. Big world lots of fast cars crashing awsome win." Get Burnout Paradise. "I cant understand why everyone likes this game so much........get GT5. "

Me, personally, I would buy Need for Speed. I enjoy arcade style more then sim.
