Grand Theft Auto IV
Game » consists of 25 releases. Released Apr 29, 2008
Take on the role of Niko Bellic, a Serbian immigrant who comes to the US at his cousin Roman's request, to find a better life, search for "that special someone" and participate in lawless activities in an upgraded generation of Liberty City.
No Grand Theft Auto V in 2009
If anything, it would seem that Rockstar is interested in creating more episodic content for Grand Theft Auto IV, with Kotaku citing a recent USA Today interview with Rockstar's Dan Houser, who implied that the developer was still just “scratching the surface” on Liberty City. Considering the time and money that went into the development of Grand Theft Auto IV, it would seem to me that continuing to build on that effort would make a whole lot more sense than starting a new city from scratch.

as expected really.
I wouldn't be surprised if another pack comes out following more of Niko's story, but being for all platforms, instead of the Lost and Damned thing which microsoft made sure they got hold of exclusively.
You couldn't have more Niko stuff on one platform only IMO.
How much DLC do Microsoft have tied up as exclusive? I really wished I was getting the Lost And Damned one but there's absolutely no chance of it coming to the PS3 is there?
So how long after the DLC is released do they announce the PS3 version? With the seemingly increasing importance being put on these expansions, it does seem to be more likely that the 360 exclusivity is time related. Then again, I guess $50million gives you a lot of power... I'm not holding my breath either way. If it comes I'll pick it up (so to speak), if not Sony's announced lineup is pretty strong this year anyway. Also, I think I can get plenty more hours out of Fallout 3.
I'm glad. I mean, I'm not glad that there isn't going to be a GTA V this year (not that I expected one), but I'm glad they quashed the rumor so quickly.
The one thing I am disappointed in so far is just that the Lost & Damned seems kind of underwhelming to me. Maybe Mass Effect just trained me to expect mediocre DLC, or something.
GTA V in 2009 would have to be a very rushed project that would probably suck compared to GTA IV.
They probably already started to work on a new GTA but its still to soon to admit that, since they still want to make some more money from GTA IV.
If they are planning 2 new episodes + The Lost and Damned I sure hope that at least one of those episodes will be available on the PS3.
It would just be stupid for Rockstar to completly ignore the PlayStation users after all these years.
"Agreed, I'm a PS3 owner and I still wish The Lost and Damned was coming out."So this episodic content... 360 only?""

I never thought there was a chance of a new Grand Theft Auto game coming out this year. I want them to put a lot of work into the next sequel. Grand Theft Auto IV is going to be one hell of a tough act to follow and nobody wants to be disappointed.
That's awesome, way better idea to go episodic for now, and make GTA:V a big thing in the future of the future.

GTA Blade Runner was a corny idea anyway. Vinny should be fired for being corny. would've been cool if GTA developers did Microsoft's 2 exclusive episodes and also did 2 exclusive different episodes for Sony. they wouldnt get the 50 million from Sony but Microsoft's 50 million could help develop Sony's episodes. Microsoft wouldn't stand for that though haha. business.
those dudes at Rockstar have been quoted that there will indeed be exclusive GTA4 content for the PS3 they just didn't specify what it was which means it'll most likely be a Home space or a Home t-shirt or somethin. lame.
Anyone complaining about this is an idiot. We've had enough sequels rushed out the door by over eager developers. This is good, it means they aren't going to try and muscle through the economy by rushing things and what not.
This actually sounds more like good news if you ask me. Think about it its only been what a year since Grand Theft Auto IV. If they did try and make a sequel to GTA IV chances are extremely high that it would end up being rushed out, instead of being carefully thought out like GTA IV.
We need to give Rockstar at the very least two or more years before expecting to see a GTA V. That way Rockstar would get all the time they need to come up with a new great game.
Sadly, it sounds like Vinny's dreams of a Grand Theft Auto: Blade Runner won't be coming true anytime soon, as Kotaku has received word directly from Rockstar stating that, while it intends on releasing two pieces of episodic content for Grand Theft Auto IV this year, there are no plans for a full-fledged sequel THAT WE ARE READY TO ANNOUNCE just yet.There... fixed it for you. You can bet your children there is another full stand alone GTA in production.
We might hear about it before 2010 comes about, but nobody who knows anything about the game industry actually thought it would be released this year. That's just stupid.
It's reasonable. A GTA game takes a long time to develop and they just released GTAIV they're not going to make a completely new game when the 4th one hasn't been out for a year AND they still have one more DLC left for 360.
And we all know there will be multiplatform DLC (not the MS episodes); it's just that the only ANNOUNCED DLC are the ones MS bought and told us about.
Rockstar is notorious for not giving out details until the products are close to the polishing phase. Other companies, however, are not (IE Microsoft and Nintendo -- the folks that announced the last two GTA exclusivities).
"So, don't be surprised if the first two downloadable episodes already confirmed for Grand Theft Auto IV are just two of many." --- Obviously I'm not the only person who feels this way.
