They are seperate, they have some missions in common but from a different perspective. I haven't played TBOGT but I am sure it's the same.

Oh Ballad of Gay Tony, so far the story is superior, and the missions are a lot more fun.

@Gearhead:  I guess what I'm asking is will anything be spoiled if they are played out of order?

I'd advise you play Lost and damned, their relatively unrelated but yeah the BoGT may spoil a few small details with Johnny's story.

I would recommend playing them in order of release.  The references between the three do make most sense when played in the correct order.  It isn't a big deal, but certain parts of Ballad assume that you have knowledge of what is going on from the OC and TLAD - but TLAD never assumes you have knowledge from Ballad.

Eh, nothing really. If you trying to decide which to play first i would TLAD, but if you're just going to buy one at the moment, then I would recommend Gay Tony. Both are good, but Gay Tony is just vastly superior.

They do intersect at several points, but I think you should be able to play them in any order you want without ruining the overarching plot of either.

Having said that, The Lost and Damned has a much stronger plot line in my opinion, and I would recommend playing it first. The Ballad of Gay Tony seems more focused on over the top characters and action than putting together an extremely compelling plot, but it does manage to wrap up a couple of the last loose ends left over from GTA IV.

TLAD first. BOGT has features that TLAD doesn't and playing them the other direction might cause you not to enjoy TLAD as much as you should because of it. BOGT is the climax of the gameplay of the series. You don't wanna fast forward to the final action scene of a movie you haven't seen, unless you don't generally like the movie from the get-go.

So yes, the BOGT exclusive features and gameplay will be spoiled.

I think Gay Tony is the best. Save it for last.
