The trailer will be up tomorrow at 12PM Eastern and 9AM Pacific. For now we can discuss what our expectations are and then contrast with our thoughts about the trailer once it's out.
Edit: ~10 More minutes.
I'm expecting beautiful visuals. You can call me a graphics whore I don't care. We're talking about Rockstar here. They have the money and the manpower. After Red Dead Redemption's beautifully rendered environments and the facial tech shown in LA Noire, I'm expecting something breathtaking. Gameplay-wise I want to feel like the AI buddies you have are actual people , with some lovable personalities, who can also hold their own in a fight and participate in any set pieces there might be. Make your character really versatile. More options on your cell phone. The shooting and cover system have to feel better.
Edit: Why did I do this?

Yeah that facial tech most likely won't be in GTA V since it cost a lot of money and it takes up a shitload of space.
@Landon: It's how Rickrolling got started.
People on 4chan's video game board were posting links to the music video claiming it was the GTA IV trailer. The rest is history.
I hope that they bring back an area akin to San Andreas (with the detail of 4) and I'm half expecting animals as they were integrated into the engine back in RDR.
I want the trailer to be at least 2 minutes and get a real feel for the game, not some brief glimpse of a character and setting as GTA IV's trailer was.

@Cloudenvy said:That would suck total balls. I hope you lose your 20 brad bucks.I will bet $20 Brad Bucks that it will show no gameplay! : )
Awwwwwww. : (
@Rappelsiini:
Because it takes a hell of a lot of money and space to actually do it, and I bet it isn't worth it in the grand scheme of things.
LA Noire face tech? No:

I say ditto, but I'm not sure we're expecting the same thing. I expect it will be on the same engine as GTA IV and Red Dead, with incremental improvements. I thought GTA IV was gorgeous (still do), I thought RDR improved even further (mostly in the character models... wasn't much scenery to render), and I expect Max Payne to look even better.
GTA V will no doubt be a very pretty game (with its strongest points likely amounting to lighting and physics), but I'm not expecting to be blown away. I'm almost positive it will be the same graphics engine. And I'm totally okay with that.
I'm actually most interested to see if Natural Motion/Euphoria has made any noticeable improvements. It'll be a while before we figure any of that out, though.

I'm going to be dissapointed if it's set in Los Angeles/San Andreas. GTA:SA is still my favorite game of the series, but R* should have to balls to venture out into new territories.
Are you saying that the next GTA should be set in space?!

I liked one of the rumors that claimed it would be set in Washington DC. Considering the current political atmosphere, having it set there would be eerily topical for R*.

If you steal spaceships, will that sill be called grand theft auto?

If the title card comes up at the end of a spacey-themed trailer... and it reads "Grand Theft Spaceship"... I think I'd shit. But I'd smile while I was doing it.
I just hope it shows enough for me to be able to survive the next how long before they reveal new details about the game or show another trailer.

@Manhattan_Project: Why wouldn't they use it? I hope they didn't spend all that money developing that tech just to abadon it. Also wasn't the developing of the facial tech what cost them so much money and not using it for the game?
Because Rockstar don't own that technology or the company that does. The company that spent the money researching and developing that stuff was another company setup by the man who brought you Team Bondai.
@H2Oyea: Have to remember though I'm pretty sure actual gameplay of GTA IV wasn't shown until right near (or probably day of) release. It'll all be in engine stuff, but we won't see any gameplay (at least not in the first trailer).
I put down 50 Brad Bucks on that. This is Rockstar, they could just put a black image with "Grand Theft Auto V" printed on it and it will send the internet into meltdown. They needn't show anything.
You know, considering how the modern era has worked out for large scale criminality, there's not much left to romanticize. GTA 4 worked as a kind of swan song for criminality told through the eyes of a newly arrived immigrant. They hit all the high notes they needed to. If the persistent rumours of GTA 5 being more "money" focused in the sense that they're taking on corporate America as well as the political landscape, it could work. I don't see Rockstar having the interest in doing it, however. They lampoon the culture they love. When they talk shit about 24 (72 in GTA IV) they're referencing a TV show they enjoy. The point of the satire in GTA games isn't to look at it and say "Look at this stuff we're making fun of, isn't it terrible?" The point is to satirize and say "this place is insane, absurd, and messed up, but we love it."
I feel like with the economy being the way it is in the US, with the public sentiment toward politicians and figures of authority being so caustic, a serious GTA game taking on serious, here-and-now issues would be more of a commitment than Rockstar is willing to make. They like to make fun of stuff or shed light on certain issues, sure, but those have been rooted directly in the past of the United States, as opposed to current climate and conditions. Judging by the artistic work Rockstar puts out, they're not interested in changing opinions or bringing to bear an issue that's actually important. Basically, the GTA game about Washington and the "money" would need a much more deft, mature touch than GTA games are known for having.
I always thought an alternate history theme would be cool, they need to keep it in the US though, would be weird to have it in another country.
Setting it in Chicago during Al Capone's time would be pretty interesting as well. Haven't seen a lot of games set during that time (that I'm aware of).
How cool would it be to set the game off during a prison break? The protagonist needs to escape prison than re enter a life of crime. I'm tired of the morale BS they had with Niko, just make the guy/girl and asshole/ bitch through and through.
