Is it possible to miss content/missions in GTA 5?

Loving the game. But I'm concerned that I might be missing a lot of stuff or that I might have to play through additional times to catch everything. I've just been doing what I feel like when I feel like it-story missions here, side missions there, cruising around doing other dumb stuff at random. Is there a chance that I will miss anything by playing that way? Should I play all the story stuff first? If possible, I would like to do everything in the same playthrough.

I'm not sure if it is possible to miss actual content or missions, but apparently you can miss cut scenes by starting missions as certain characters.

I don't think so. As long as you go to missions with an M, T or F as the respective character, and other missions with their respective colours (Blue, Orange and Green) you should be okay. It's possible to start an M mission as Trevor and feel like you've missed a part of a cutscene, for instance, but if you go to that M mission Marker as Micheal, you see all of it.

Well, there is an issue with some endings where you get locked out...i'm not sure if they show up in the mission replay feature though. The game might let you play missions you didn't do there. I know it lets you play the other ending missions.

The only way you will miss content permanently on your playthrough is if you pick certain endings. Otherwise, everything can be completed at any time.

I was wondering the same thing. Is the Martin Madrazo mission with the air plane doable with Franklin? Cause when I was Franklin, Michael texted me saying that Martin wanted Franklin for a job. But I initiated the mission with Michael and only Trevor showed up with no sign of Franklin. So did I miss out on a mission with Franklin?

Yes it is. I missed all of Trevor's story and missions. On my 2nd playthrough hoping I don't miss them again.

Not main story stuff, but I only saw the random event that lets you get Packie as a crew member after I already set up the last heist, so I never got to use him which sucks cause I heard he actually says a lot of cool stuff

There are multiple endings? ugh.

I found another character after finishing the game that was a driver as well. Didn't get to use her, but I assume she was pretty good, as was Packie's case.

I got to use her for that last heist. She has great skills and only demands 4 or 5%, it's pretty great. I wish I had known you could find people like that a little earlier.

I'm concerned about something that popped up early in the game saying if you retry a mission it won't count towards RockStar Social Club. That the only way to get on the leader-boards is via your first attempt ever. Thats insane considering I don't want to read FAQs before a mission to be spoiled of its story, yet GTA introduces new gameplay variations in the middle of missions in the corner of the screen where you can barely read it, and often end up crashing cause you're not looking at the game.

For instance, I died during the (first?) (of many? christ i hope not) weed-aliens machine gun shootout, because as I was trying to read the blip that says how to shake them off from mind controlling you, I was so busy I got abducted. Next, on the porno boat jet ski mission, the daughter says escape in the channel, yet I had already passed it thinking I could get on land and then kill the bastards. I spent time reading the blip and looking at the map, and missed the underground escape route, failing the mission.

For such a simple game as GTA, they seem to often throw you into split second decisions where if you take the time to lean foward on the couch and read the blip, you missed and failed. They introduce tutorial stuff under critical circumstances, yet also end up giving easy tutorials about buying ammunition and getting your car fixed despite doing it on your own for hours before those missions. It goes from StoryHourAdventures easy to DarkSouls hard at the drop of a hat.

I don't think it's retrying in general, it's if you die and checkpoint. So the way I read it you have to basically be able to clear the mission without failing in the middle.

Well, I'm pretty early in the game but I ran into something. When I was playing as Michael there were two missions, an M and an F, so I changed to Franklin and went to the F but Michael had nothing to do with the mission. I then switched back to Michael and the F was gone. So how does that work? All the story missions play out differently depending on who you start the mission with?

#15 Posted by HurricaneIvan29 (596 posts) -

@nekusakuraba: The F mission indicator is there for all characters on the map even if it's a mission only for Franklin. If you switch to different characters and the color stays Green it means that other characters can't access it. On the other hand if you switch to another character and the F changes to their color than it means it is accessible to that character as well, but it will stay as an F to let you know that it's really Franklin's mission and you should start it as him if you don't want to possibly miss any info about it (Like starting Michael's early mission with the tennis coach as Franklin).

In Theory I believe you can complete everything as long as you pick the C ending, but I think I've hit a bug with the epsilon missions with Mike. I delivered the cars but I'm not getting the next mission via e-mail. Kinda pissing me off because I was planning on doing a 100% play threw.
