Havent heard much from him since he was disbarred. What about you guys?

#2 Posted by Dany (7877 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

Nope, we won't.

#3 Posted by DeeGee (1948 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

He's done.

#4 Posted by VisariLoyalist (2988 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

no but there sure as hell is gonna be some uproar around saints row the third man. Fox news headline: "pervert game teaches kids to kill for points"

#5 Posted by VanillaPlant (130 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

Not until he runs for the Republican nomination.

#6 Posted by mosespippy (2610 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

No one listens to him anymore now that he's been disbarred. I'm sure the crazy parents organizations will still try and make a fuss but they've distanced themselves from Jack Thompson. Maybe they'll get others to be spokespeople like Leland Yee but Jack is done.

#7 Posted by Zidd (1776 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

Hes not even a lawyer anymore. I say hes done.

#8 Posted by JasonR86 (7759 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

Without a doubt, when GTA5 comes out or is about to come out, Thompson will be back. Will hear about it if anyone decides to put up his garbage on their site/channel which is likely a big 'if' considering his reputation.

#9 Posted by Jayzilla (2391 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

Doesn't matter. I put that guy on my ignore list a few years back.

#10 Posted by Hailinel (18149 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

As others have said, it won't matter. Thompson was disbarred and his professional and legal reputation is in ruins. No one with any authority takes him seriously anymore.

#11 Posted by Dany (7877 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

He is nothing. He was disbarred. Disbarred.

#12 Posted by Mr_Skeleton (4941 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

He got disbarred so no.

#13 Posted by Slayeric (217 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

Here's a thought. If he does say something, lets all collectively ignore it. Problem solved!

#14 Posted by Tylea002 (2249 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

He's the playable character.

In serious, this guy knows his shit.

So sort of like the old saying "if a tree falls on-top of Jack Thompson in a forest, and there is no one around, does he scream?"

I don't really see the problem with his "activism". Sure, he spreads a ridiculously bad image about video games being some sort of training for killing, but it's not like anyone who isn't retarded will believe him. So he can talk shit all he wants as long as he isn't hurting anyone. I'll just buy my GTA V and enjoy it thank you very much.

#17 Posted by Slayeric (217 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

My whole thing is we give him way too much credit and collectively give him way too much time out of our day. I don't want to see article after article about him on gaming blogs about every misinformed thing he says in public about GTA5.

Just because he's disbarred doesn't make him unable to create a stink.

Legally, he can't. Back when he was a lawyer, people listened to him, but now he's just a reject... I wonder what he's been up to.

@TooWalrus: It's that kind of thinking that will give him a soapbox to stand on. haha

even though hilary clinton is one of the biggest critics of video games in general.

on topic: doubt that we'll here from him condsidering that he got his law license suspended/removed and 2k sued him slander.

Video Games are multi-million dollar corporations. The way to stop Fox News from sprouting negativity is to sponsor them. Thats right buy ad revenue, then they can't talk shit. It's sad but thats why they never talk bad about any EA game , if you'd noticed. They backed away from Mass Effect.

#23 Posted by MasturbatingestBear (1137 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

Hopefully he does. Remember all of the amazing quotes he gave the Hotspot? Like Male on Male Sexual Content.

#24 Posted by soiledsanchez (75 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

no idea, but i never called even when he was a lawyer damn sure wont care now since hes been disbarred for a long while

#25 Posted by wolf_blitzer85 (5177 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

I hope he pops up a little bit. His escapades were rather entertaining.

#26 Posted by Contro (2040 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

Time will tell. If he's hasn't been gagged, I think it's likely he will pass comment.

#27 Posted by WillMcNastyTheHiFiJamSolution (4 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

That stupid nutty diluted fuck. He should be shot by Niko and all the other protagonist in the GTA series.

#28 Posted by Sodacake (15 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

I thought one of the terms of the most recent court case with Thompson and Take Two was that he wasn't allowed to open his dumb-ass mouth about their games from now on?

He kinda was shot by Niko. The lawyer in whose office you murder is based on Thompson.

im so glad he done, espcially after that whole mess where he blamed the virginia tech shootings on video games when the kid was really mentally unstable his whole life and something simpley made him snap.

#31 Posted by SlightConfuse (3963 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

considering he is disbared, NO

http://www.gamepolitics.com/2009/09/25/one-year-ago-today

And according to wikipedia:

"On September 19, 2009, Thompson announced that he intended to resume practicing law as of October 1, 2009, claiming that he was "never disbarred" because all of the orders resulting in his disbarment were legal nullities. He dared The Florida Bar to get a court order to stop him.

However since no one has heard from him since he announced that, my guess is that it all went nowhere.

#33 Posted by CornBREDX (3421 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

I don't think it's trolling if you really believe the things you say- although you could argue he may not really and merely does what he does for points in whatever hes trying to win. The way he does his thing, though, I think he really believes the things he says. Maybe he exaggerates a little to get people to listen to him, but I think he's sincere.

And yes, he will (I'm speculating here of course) at least have something to say even if it's not as widely known or talked about as he used to be.

#34 Posted by Gabriel (4035 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

Don't worry guys when he wins his 40 Million dollar facebook case he'll have more time to concentrate on GTA V

#35 Posted by mazik765 (2284 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

God, I hope so.

#36 Posted by FreakAche (2870 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

Didn't he do something crazy since he was disbarred though? I thought I remembered him writing a threatening e-mail to Gabe Newell or something ridiculous like that.

Perhaps, but I'd laugh.

#38 Posted by Winternet (7351 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

I sure hope so. Once in a while I miss him and go back and listen to some hotspot episodes. The industry has changed, let me tell you.

#39 Posted by bybeach (3940 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

I miss fappin Jack...

:(

#40 Posted by natetodamax (18928 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

Nope, the Jack Thompson era is over.

#41 Posted by valrog (3670 posts) - 1 year, 6 months ago

Can someone fill me in? Why did he get disbarred? Also, Rockstar should make Manhunt 3 as a tribute to Thompson xD
