Who cares about GTA V? Where's Bully 2?!

#1 Posted by TeflonBilly (4713 posts) -

Or maybe even whatever would spawn from such an unholy matrimony.

Bully is still my favorite of Rockstar's open world and I wouldn't be adverse to revisiting an older Jimmy Hopkins now and see what has become of him. He already has some backstory that they can flesh out, what with his wealthy, but certainly uncaring parents. And his penchant for delinquency, sophomoric humor and pranks. Not to mention a keen intellect an a mini Machiavellian mind to scheme against his enemies.

With the New England-ish surroundings of Bulworth Academy, it wouldn't be a far cry to see the game spin off to a city like Boston if he went a bit more white collar or then again there's always Chicago for that original gangster flavor.

I'm just imagining using these scenarios to have nods towards other great works of fiction like The Departed and American Psycho like Rock Star are want to do.

Rockstar Vancouver is responsible for Bully, and they're busy with Max Payne 3... =/ Though I still have hope...

Bully 2 is my dream, it doesn't even needs to be with Jimmy Hopkins, it just needs to be more Bully. Bully was amazing. It had fun things to do around the city, funny ways to interact with the world around you, fun minigames, fun weapons, and it had a good story. AND YOU COULD WALK AROUND AS A SKELETON NINJA!

Oh god, how i love Bully.

I loved making out with other boys....

... everything about bully was awesome... you didn't read that first part

I still can't get the idea of Bully 2 being in a summer camp. It'd be the best thing ever. But GTA takes top priority over most Rockstar games. The Warriors trumps all though.

#8 Posted by ProfessorEss (7324 posts) -

I think "Who cares" is exactly why GTA V is being announced and Bully 2 isn't.

...because of the millions and millions more people (aka: wallets) who care about the former.

Never did play Bully. How is the 360 version?

I recall there being some weird glitches (I think achievement related?) but there's a good chance that's all fixed up and otherwise it was very good.

Oh Rockstar, I love you. And yeah, I'm more excited about GTAV than I could be about any other game in existence. Though I'd love to see another Bully game, and heck, another spin with The Warriors would be alright by me.

They'd have to set it in an American school, which wouldn't really work as well.

Yeah, it's all fixed up. I played it on the Wii the 360 and the PC (and 100%ed all three - yeah, I like it a little bit) and never had any trouble...

Exactly that... such a better name, but it'd never have sold with that name here in the U. S. of A. (sigh).

Bully 1 took place in America and it worked just fine.

I support this topic in all its future endeavors. An HD Bully is so much more appealing than another GTA.

Like the first Bully?

Don't get me wrong I love Bully. But I also really really loved GTA IV. and am far more excited about that then I would be a Bully 2.

@HandsomeDevil: Really? Never played that much of it, to be honest, but it very much seemed like an English school.

I think it's New England. You never noticed none of the students had accents? Or that the kids are playing the football where you use your hands?

The 360 version is great. They patched all that mess it had at launch. I highly recommend it.

Summer camp sounds great. Also, we need another Manhunt.

As long as it comes out on the PC...yes, i want more games that put me in the shoes of the people that tormented me for 8 fucking years.

Or you can just, you know, grab a hammer or a plastic bag, go wild IRL style :P

Yeah I played the 360 version about a year ago, seemed fine. If you can get it cheap its a great game.

@UKSamwise: Listen to that fantastic bass line.

I love the soundtrack to Bully. Y'all should get the original soundtrack by Shawn Lee.

#28 Posted by TengoJuego (32 posts) -

Probably one of my most memorable/favorite video game soundtracks. I can hear the fast paced jingle that played when I hopped on a bicycle, now.

Did Bully sell well? Obviously GTA has more pull, but I don't remember if it did well.

#31 Posted by DystopiaX (5303 posts) -

I care more about GTA V, although I wouldn't say no to Bully 2 whenever Max Payne 3 gets done.

PlayStation 2 version alone sold 1.5 million copies (As of March 2008). So I would say it did pretty well.

I stoked that GTA V has been announced since GTA IV is one of my favourite games of all time (I finished it 5 times) but whenever I go back and listen to this I can't wait to go back to Bullworth Academy.

Thanks for posting that video. Brought a lot of memories back. God I fucking love Bully.

I care about gta 5, and not so mutch about bully 2.

#35 Posted by FluxWaveZ (19331 posts) -

Bully was a very enjoyable experience, so I would enjoy a Bully 2. But I'm sure I'll also enjoy GTA V.

#36 Posted by xMP44x (2193 posts) -

I would enjoy either, or both, if I had the choice. Bully was a fun game and one I want to get on 360 again. Grand Theft Auto is my favorite series of all time, though, so I want to see it first. After Max Payne 3 maybe there'll be a Bully 2, I hope.

#37 Posted by Trilogy (2650 posts) -

I'm in more need of gta 5 than another bully.

Fuck it, just give me both. I'm a greedy bastard.

Well, the story had you defending the weaker kids, but you could totally be a jerk to anyone in that game. Stuffing people in lockers, trashcans. Throwing a bunch of marbles on the floor of the boys sleeping quarters, then pulling the fire alarm and watching the chaos... man that game was awesome.

If they never make a Bully 2, I would be perfectly ok with this.

#40 Posted by MikeGosot (3227 posts) -
@Landon: I wasn't much of an asshole in Bully. I kept pulling the fire alarm because it was cool, I RAN AROUND DRESSED AS A NINJA, and i kicked the ass of every bully with the exception of Russell. Oooh, and the English classes SUCKED.

Who cares about Bully 2? I want my GTA V!

#42 Posted by MikkaQ (10284 posts) -

I'd much rather see GTA V, it's a galactically better series. But I do want a Bully 2. Just not with Hoskins. His story has been told, we need a new kid and a new town.

#43 Posted by DjCmeP (1148 posts) -

I didn't/don't like Bully. I WANT MY GTA V!

#44 Posted by Elyk247 (366 posts) -

Bully 2 would be all right I guess. I don't think Jimmy could be the main character again though.

It would have to be a new school as well, and the story lines and missions they used couldn't be recycled. GTA has it easy with murder, because you can do that many a times in game.

The more I think about it the less I like it. Everything would be too similar for me.
