"GT" was an american video game publisher, distributor, developer and predeccesor to Atari, Inc. from 1993 to May 09, 2000.

After its advent in 1993, GT Interactive quickly put itself of the map by releasing the milestone smashits Doom I and II by ID Software to great commercial success and critical acclaim. It was tin 1995 already when GT Interactive branched out into the budget and value market, which included deals with large department store chains such as K-Mart. Another popular FPS shooter would follow with Quake, released in 1996, also developed by ID Software. Over the years, GT Interactive aquired many game studios, including WizardWorks, Humongeous Entertainment, FormGen, Warner Interactive Europe, One Stop, SingleTrac, Legend Entertainment. In an ironic twist of  history, GT itself was bought up by Infogrames in 1991, which was renamed to Atari Inc. in 2003.
