Guide Overview

How should you use this guide? Well it's up to you. If you already have an achievement route laid out, then by all means pick-and-choose what you're looking for. As far as how I think you should go, I will recommend how I did it. Go through the first time on the difficulty of your choice, I chose Easy, and only use the Plasma Cutter. You'll get an achievement for beating the game with just this weapon (which is also your starting weapon). Then you can go through a second time and finish upgrading and getting the weapon kills, and finally one last time on the Impossible difficulty for your "Epic Tier 3 Engineer" achievement.

This guide is complete. I would like to know of any corrections that I need to make. Please rate this guide and give me feedback. Enjoy the game.

Game Completion

Survivor

Complete the game on any difficulty setting

  • Just as it says, complete the game on any difficulty. I recommend Easy for your first run.

Epic Tier 3 Engineer

Complete the game on the hardest difficulty setting

  • Go through the game on Easy or Normal first, because once you beat the game on any difficulty you will unlock "Impossible" mode. Then go through it on this new difficulty.
  • Enemies take more damage and you get a bit less ammo which means you'll be focusing less on buying nodes, and more on buying ammo at shops.
  • I did this run with the plasma cutter, line gun, force gun, and pulse rifle.
  • You can use cheats (see bottom of guide under "Cheats"). They do not disable achievements.
  • Abuse stasis and know where you need to go, and what to expect.

Weapon/Ability Useage

Marksman

Dismember 20 Limbs

  • See "Butcher."

Surgeon

Dismember 500 Limbs

  • See "Butcher."

Butcher

Dismember 1000 Limbs

  • You'll learn dismembering pretty early, and it's kind of obvious that this achievement is awarded to those who focus on limbs. I unlocked "Butcher" on the last level not cutting the limbs off of dead corpses. It's confirmed that you can get the achievement while cutting the limbs off of a dead corpse, or otherwise stomping on the corpse to conserve ammo.
  • Dismemberments carry over to a second play-through, just like your stats. Only on the same difficulty, though.

Freeze

Use Stasis on 50 enemies

  • Pretty simple. To use stasis you aim with the left trigger then press "X." Just use stasis whenever you have some to spare, always saving a use or two just in case. Do this to fifty enemies. I would dismember them during this time, as it's an easy shot.

One Gun

Beat the game using only the Plasma Cutter

  • Yes, you have to go through the entire game using your starting weapon. This is why I say to go through on Easy first -- to get this one out of the way. All I did to make sure I didn't mess up was to not even carry around other weapons. Melee and stomping do not disable the achievement. You can also buy new guns to get your "Full Arsenal" achievement, and even upgrade them, just do not use them physically. There is plenty of Plasma Cutter ammo throughout, and as long as you focus on dismemberments enemies are dealt with easily.

Brawler

Kill at least 30 enemies with a melee attack

  • You melee by pulling the right trigger without aiming. Using stasis then melee is preferred, but if you have no stasis and wish to melee, just make sure you are facing a single enemy as others will interrupt.
  • Stomping does contribute, and carries over to a new game as well.

Full Contact

Kill 30 enemies with the Contact Beam

  • Kill thirty enemies with this gun. I did this on my "New Game +" when I had access to all of the guns, and was carrying them around to upgrade anyway.

A Cut Above

Kill 30 enemies with the Ripper

  • Kill thirty enemies with this gun. I did this on my "New Game +" when I had access to all of the guns, and was carrying them around to upgrade anyway.

Tool Time

Kill 30 enemies with the Plasma Cutter

  • Kill thirty enemies with this gun. I did this on my "New Game +" when I had access to all of the guns, and was carrying them around to upgrade anyway.

Pusher

Kill 30 enemies with the Force Gun

  • Kill thirty enemies with this gun. I did this on my "New Game +" when I had access to all of the guns, and was carrying them around to upgrade anyway.

Live With The Hot Ones

Kill 30 enemies with the Flamethrower

  • Kill thirty enemies with this gun. I did this on my "New Game +" when I had access to all of the guns, and was carrying them around to upgrade anyway.

Autofire

Kill 30 enemies with the Pulse Rifle

  • Kill thirty enemies with this gun. I did this on my "New Game +" when I had access to all of the guns, and was carrying them around to upgrade anyway.

Eviscerator

Kill 30 enemies with the Line Gun

  • Kill thirty enemies with this gun. I did this on my "New Game +" when I had access to all of the guns, and was carrying them around to upgrade anyway.

Item Collection

Full Arsenal

Own every Weapon in the game

  • To get new guns you have to find the schematics. Just search thoroughly and they should be easy to spot. Schematics are blue. Once you find the schematic, buy them at a nearby store for a small sum of credits, usually in the 10,000 range. There are seven weapons including your Plasma Cutter.

There's Always Peng!

Find the Peng Treasure

  • This is a tough one to describe, so stick with me here. Remember on the first level where you got off your ship (do not confuse ship with the tram you always use). Alright, pretend you are walking along with the crew toward the door, keep looking at your left rail. Below in a gutter sort of decline between both rails is a small glittery object that is shines golden. Either way, you'll come back here chapter eleven. When you do, use kinesis to grab the Peng treasure from the "gutter."
  • Here is a sufficient YouTube video that will show you where the treasure is located, in the same place you crashed.

Story Teller

Collect 75 Logs

  • See "Legend Teller."

Legend Teller

Collect 150 Logs

  • I won't be making a guide for the logs, and if you're really desperate you can go here to look at Rooster Teeth's video walkthrough of them. I do not recommend this. From simple exploration and a keen eye you can find a lot of them. Something to remember is that there are more than 150 logs in the game. Logs can come from storyline or audio/text logs found aboard the ships. To keep track of what you're missing, go to the far right in the menu of your RIG, where it shows chapters and logs you've acquired respectively.
  •  Some logs, maybe one or two, are obtained based on what order you do an objective. This is no big deal. For instance, there is one on level four which explains what I am talking about. By missing three or four, I got my Legend Teller achievement midway in chapter eleven.
  • Acquired logs carry over into your "New Game +." So if for some reason you did not get enough, keep trying while you upgrade all of your equipment.

Miscellaneous

Pack Rat

Store 25 Items in the Safe

  • This is particularly easy if you know about it. Once you have 25 or more items, just throw them in your safe at the nearest store. Achievement will unlock, and take out what you need continuing your adventure.

Z-Baller

Complete Level 6 in Zero-G Basketball

  • The Zero-G basketball court is on level ten. You can't miss it, as you will grab a mission item from inside the room. Also, it's obvious from the hardwood floors. To begin the game, near the door land on the hardwood floor and press "A." All you do is grab a ball with kinesis and throw it in a hoop for a minute per level, once you complete level six this will pop up. Don't forget to take your rewards from the lockers in the adjacent room.

Merchant

Collect 8 schematics

  • Grab eight schematics for use in the shop. There are a lot more than eight schematics so with consistent observation and exploration this will be easy. Each item has a color coding on the tag, schematics are blue.

Armstrong

Shoot 50 objects using Kinesis

  • Just as it explains, you shoot fifty objects with the kinesis ability gained at the beginning of level two. To shoot the object, aim then press "B" followed by the right trigger. This can be obtained very early, as it's possible to just keep shooting the same object over and over again.

Crackshot

Achieve a perfect score in the Shooting Gallery

  • Somewhat difficult, or at least requires a bit of practice. The shooting gallery can be found on level nine after you board the other ship. It looks just like any shooting gallery you might imagine, but if you are having a hard time finding it, look for the weapon/equipment upgrade station just adjacent to the shooting gallery. Each level you have to perfect. Shoot red targets for points, blue targets will subtract them. A power node prize is obtained after completing level five as well as this achievement.

Air Alert

Zero-G Jump over 100 times

  • When you enter your first Zero-G zone it will teach you how to move in this environment. Pretty much just aim and press "Y" to jump from surface to surface. Where you learn Zero-G should also be where you obtain this, it takes about three minutes but could not be easier.

Maxed Out

Upgrade all weapons and equipment

  • This will take approximately two entire run-throughs of the game, one being the primary and the second the "New Game +" where you keep your stats, equipment, upgrades, etc. Buy power nodes and swap out weapons as needed. Weapons not in your current stash (and instead in your storage) cannot be upgraded. Work on your weapon kill achievements based on what gun is being upgraded.

Ragdoll Check

Force an enemy into a Gravity Panel 5 times

  • The first gravity panels are found on chapter four, and a couple more can be found on later levels. This should be gotten on level four, though. Basically lead them near it, stasis them, and "push" them forward with your own body. Do not let the Lurkers (babies) latch onto you, or you'll kill them. To know when you are looking at a gravity panel, either listen and you will be notified by radio, or you can tell by the small square of suction seen from the ground to the ceiling.
  • Apparently the force gun is a good gun to use when trying to throw them into a panel. [Credit goes to Daeica.]

Big Spender

Spend 300,000 credits at the store

  • Do not waste your time going out of the way to get this achievement. This is easily acquired by playing naturally, I even got this by chapter four which is not even halfway into the game.

Secret Achievements

Exterminator

Kill the Leviathan

  • This is the boss at the end of the sixth level. He will take up the entire other half of the screen from you. To kill him, just wait for his tentacles to expose the yellow weak points and shoot them, when all three "limbs" are cut off, shoot the balls coming out of his mouth to kill him faster. Pretty simple boss as long as you can cut off the limbs before they hit you.
  • Refer to "Playing Catch" for another achievement opportunity.

Brute Force

Kill a Brute

  • You will encounter your first Brute in the fourth level. You'll get this achievement at that time, but will continue fighting 4 or so more Brutes throughout the game. On the Easy difficulties you can use aim at their arms with a Plasma Cutter or Line Gun and cut them off. On Harder difficulties you may use Stasis, circle around, and cut off the arms at this time.

Mindless Prey

Kill the Hive Mind

  • The final boss of the game is the Hive Mind. From my experience he was an easy boss. First you'll shoot the yellow weak spots on his face when he roars at you. Eventually when there are two spots left, he picks you up and you fire upside down in a sequence similar to when those giant tentacles grab you during the game. After these spots are gone, you'll be on the ground again. He will smack you four times with his "arms." Then his chest will be exposed momentarily and you should take this time to shoot the weak spots inside. He will be dead after.

Playing Catch

Catch a Brute or Leviathan Pod using Kinesis

  • Your best bet for this is to attempt it during the Levithian fight at the end of chapter six. When you destroy the three tentacles and he starts shooting those yellow balls, or pods, then wait for them to get close enough. Grab it with Kinesis and shoot it back at the Levithian. Easily unlocked achievement.
  • Apparently cutting the legs off of a Brute is the best way to force it to use pods, since it cannot move. Severing an arm is just as good, but watch out because he can still charge you.

Don't get cocky, kid

Survive the ADS Cannon with over 50% shield strength remaining

  • An event that happens nearing the end of chapter four. You'll be in a turret, so you obviously cannot miss this. Anyway, your mission is to shoot asteroids before they hit you and therefore deplete your Hull. My advice is to pay attention to the location of incoming asteroids, as far-off ones will not hit you. Next is practice. Learn to aim and fire once on each asteroid, I do not recommend pretending this turret is a machine gun. Lastly, get a good start. If you can make sure the first "wave" does not hit, and continue to be on top of things, then you'll have a chance.
  • Use the save point before you hop in the turret. If you know you're going to fail the achievement, just quit the game and load up a save -- much faster than waiting to die.
  • I started with 85% Hull, and it seems to be the same for every difficulty.

Kickin it

Escape from a Lurker's grab attack 10 times

  • A Lurker are those small babies that use three tentacles to attack you. If you'll notice when you get close, they jump on your face and you are forced to mash "A." Do this 10 times. I found just standing near them within melee range will provoke the grab. Easily achieved your first run, unless you do not know about this achievement and you have to go through the game again (which you'll be doing anyway).

Get off my ship!

Kill the Slug Boss

  • The Slug boss is a monster you fight during the second turret sequence (the first one being where you shoot asteroids). He has numerous arms that pick up debris and throw it at you. Shooting the debris will consequently prevent you from getting hit. The obvious weakness, as in most of these "arms," are the yellow pods near the base. Just take your time, make sure you get rid of any objects en route to you, and take out the tentacles one-by-one.
  • See "Slugger" for another opportunity at an achievement.

Slugger

Kill the Slug Boss with more than 50% shield strength remaining

  • Use the strategies mentioned above for this achievement. It took some practice, and to me was harder than the previous 50% Hull objective. Be fast on the trigger -- shoot it faster than you did during the asteroid sequence but not fully automatic. I used one turret at any time, as using both can sometimes overheat it and you'll be waiting two or three seconds for it to cool down, thereby being vulnerable.
