Fifa 09 Achievement Guide

There are 58 achievements in total worth 1250 points.
There are 29 Single Player achievements.
There are 8 Multiplayer achievements.
There are 17 secret achievements.
There are 10 DLC achievements.

  Score from a free kick in a match - 15 G

A free kick is earned when you are fouled outside the other team's penalty area, in this case we need a freekick close to the penalty area otherwise you cannot shoot. To score, shoot with every direct free kick you get and just keep practicing, check videos on YouTube for hints and tips on scoring from a free kick.

  Score from a penalty in a match - 5 G

You are bound to get a few penalties as you go for the rest of the achievements, when you get one shoot wherever you feel as its 100% luck just make sure you don't overpower the shot. If you can't seem to get a penalty then plug in a 2nd controller and with that controller, foul inside the penalty area. I'm not sure if this can be unlocked during a penalty shootout.

  Score from over 30 yards out in a match - 10 G

Plug in a 2nd controller, bring the keeper out with the 2nd controller by holding Y and then shoot with your main controller when you are around 30 yards out, chipping (LB + Y) might be easier.

  Score with a header in a match - 5 G

  Score with a defender in a match - 10 G

Set the game difficulty to Amateur, select a 5 star team against a 1 star team and try and move the ball down the pitch and score. You might also get this from a corner, a couple of defenders often move up the pitch for corners.

  Score by chipping the keeper in a match - 10 G

  Score with a bicycle kick - 30 G

When you cross the ball into the box, just hope one of your players perform a bicycle kick. Not much else I can do to help, its mainly luck.

  Score off the woodwork in a match - 20 G

  Score with a diving header in a match - 20 G

This is one of the more difficult achievements in the game, there is no specific way or button combination that performs a diving header, it is mainly luck - how well your player is position and the power/positioning of the cross.

I unlocked it when I was moving the ball into the box from the left side and pressed LB + Y as one of my other players was running into the box. If this doesn't work for you the first time then keep on trying whenever you have the chance it probably took me at least 100 tries.

  Score from a corner - 10 G

Whenever you get a corner always cross the ball into the box and then press B, this will hopefully make one of your players header or volley the ball into the goal. Also, don't cross the ball near to the keeper, aim the ball slightly to the left of him.

  Score from a cross - 10 G

A cross is when a player hits the ball in the air into the box, to perform a cross you need to hold X. All I can do to help you with this is to tell you that holding X until the power meter is half way full will be your best way to score.

  Score on the volley in a match - 5 G

A volley is when a player shoots the ball while it is in the air, bicycle kicks also count as volleys. To unlock this just keep crossing the ball in with every chance you get including corners. You may also get it if the ball rebounds off another player or the post, this achievement isn't too hard as you should score quite a lot of volleys while you go for the other achievements. You will find volleys to be quite satisfying when you score them as well.

  Save a penalty - 10 G

When a player from the other team enter your penalty area, slide tackle the player by pressing X and try and aim for the player, not the ball. Hopefully the other team will earn a penalty. Now it is your job to try and guess which way they will shoot, there is no way to tell where they will shoot its 100% luck.

  Upload a video to EA Sports™ football world - 10 G

In arena mode or in a match score a goal and then press X during the replay, now press Y and wait for your video to upload.

Note: You need to have Xbox Live Gold to upload videos. If you get an error saying, "You can't upload a video at this time", try again later.

  Score in the 89th minute - 19 G

Set the half time limit to 5 minutes or above and the difficulty to Ametuar, then run the clock down to around 87 minutes and start to move the ball up the field and hang around the goal until the 89th minute and score a goal.

Note: If you score in the last few seconds of the 88th minute or the first few seconds of the 90th minute, the game may say that you have scored in the 89th minute however you haven't actually and the achievement will not unlock.

  Win a game when down one man - 20 G

Score a couple of goals so that you are in the lead and then commit one or two bad tackles with a player and hopefully he will be sent off. Hold your lead till the end of the match and you will bag this achievement.

  Beat a five star team with a half star team - 15 G

Start an exhibition match and select a half star team (Accrington, English Coca-Coca League 2) and make sure you are playing as them then select a 5 star team (Manchester United, English Barclay's Premier League). Now set the difficulty to Amateur and simply win the match.

  Win a Created Tournament that starts with sixty four teams - 50 G

First, create a tournament by going to Game Modes>Tournament Mode>Create Tournament and select Knockout. In settings use the following.

Number of Teams: 64
Auto Fill Teams: Yes
Advanced Settings: On

Press A and more settings will show, enter the following.

Auto Fill From: All
Team Rating Range: Less than 2 Stars
Fixtures v Each Team: 1
Final Match Legs: 1

Now press A and a list of teams will show up, choose the team with the highest star rating. The tournament will now begin, you can either simulate each match (however match sure auto save is off, save after each win, and reload if you lose) or play through it normally, simulating is quicker if you are in a rush.

  Win a Tournament that starts with sixteen teams, with a one star rated team - 75 G

First, create a tournament by going to Game Modes>Tournament Mode>Create Tournament and select Knockout. In settings use the following.

Number of Teams: 16
Auto Fill Teams: Yes
Advanced Settings: On

Press A and more settings will show, enter the following.

Auto Fill From: All
Team Rating Range: Less than 2 Stars
Fixtures v Each Team: 1
Final Match Legs: 1

Now press A and a list of teams will show up, choose a team with half star rating (if no half star teams appear then go back and try again). The tournament will now begin, you can either simulate each match (however match sure auto save is off, save after each win, and reload if you lose) or play through it normally, simulating is quicker if you are in a rush.

  Buy a player in Manager Mode for 50 million of your chosen currency - 20 G

Start a new season in Manager Mode as Manchester United and make sure you chose your currency as Dollars in the settings menu that appears before you start a new Manager Mode save. Now, once on the Manager Mode menu, go to the transfer market and search for players with a min overall of 80 and max overall of 100. Look for Kaka and submit an offer, sim your next game and if you have submitted a good enough offer you will have successfully bought him and earned the achievement.

  Sell a player in Manager Mode for 50 million of your chosen currency - 30 G

  Buy 50 players in your career in Manager Mode - 20 G

This has to be done over the 15 seasons that you play in Manager Mode and you must buy 50 players in total. The best way to do this is to start a new Manager Mode save with Manchester United (They start with a lot of cash) and sell all your crappy players that cost under 1 Million. Now, each time a transfer window occurs you need to offer for as many players as you can after each match. Search for players with a maximum overall of 60 and a minimum of 5 as these players will be cheaper and easier to sign.

A few tips and notes:

• You have a limit of 1-6 players that you can offer for after each match
• There are two transfer windows a season, one in January and one at the start of a new season and they both last 1 month of ingame time.
• Make sure that you put your 'Negotiations' staff up to 10
• If you are simming each match, make sure your team aren't losing each game otherwise you will be sacked and will have to start over again. You can help them win by putting your Fitness, Goalkeeping, Defending, Midfield and Attacking coach up to 8 and over.
• Sell players at each transfer window, you have a limit of 42 players in your squad!
• Save every now and then just incase your game crashes
• FREE AGENTS AND SCOUTING DOES NOT COUNT TOWARDS THIS ACHIEVEMENT!

  Complete a Manager Mode season without simming any games - 100 G

Start a Manager Mode season and simply don't sim any games. If you want to do it quickly, just lose the first round of any cups you are in so you have less fixtures. There are 30-50 games on the average Manager Mode season, it depends on how many teams are in your league and what cups you are competing in. If you are going for "The Peterson" achievement then it would be best to play a full season in every cup to rack up extra play time.

  Perform a cross for a friend who scores from it (co-operative achievement) - 10 G

Start a Be a Pro match on Xbox Live and then select a position which plays down the left or right side of the pitch (e.g. RM or LM), when you get the ball near the edge of the box cross it in with X and hope that you have a good striker who can finish it.

  Win in every stadium - 20 G

Simply win in each of these stadiums, there are 49 in total and I suggest you play through them in exhibition mode as you can easily change the stadium through game settings. It would also be a good idea to keep a list of the stadiums you have won in.

Note: It has been said that to unlock this achievement you also need to win the International Cup final at the end of your 4th Be a Pro Season at Wembley Stadium. They seem to be tracked as 2 different stadiums in-game.

  Win 5 Interactive League matches - 20 G

Start an Interactive League match by going to Xbox Live>Online Game Modes>Interactive Leagues and then win 5 of these macthes.

Note: The Interactive Leagues game mode appears to be slightly buggy - you will sometimes be placed in a Ranked Match and not an Interactive Leagus Match - therefore this achievement may not be unlocked after winning 5 matches.

It is said that you can tell if you are in an Interactive League Match by pressing the Start button once you are in a match, if the menu has the "Return to Community League Screen" then you are in an Interactive League Match and if it doesn't say this then you aren't.

  Win a Ranked Xbox LIVE Match - 10 G

To start a ranked match go to Xbox Live>Ranked Quick Match and select a 5 star team, I suggest Manchester United, Chelsea or Barcelona, and then win the match.

  Win a match with fully manual settings (no assistance can be switched on) - 10 G

Before a match starts press in the pre-match "setup" menu "Xbox 360 Controller Settings" and change to the following settings:

Auto Switching: Move this bar down to 0
Pass Assistance: Manual
Through Pass Assistance: Manual
Shot Assistance: Manual
Cross Assistance: Manual
Lob Pass Assistance: Manual
You may also want to turn the difficulty down as it can be quite challenging with these settings.

Now win the match and change the settings back at the end of the match to this:

Auto Switching: Move this bar down half way
Pass Assistance: Assisted
Through Pass Assistance: Assisted
Shot Assistance: Assisted
Cross Assistance: Semi
Lob Pass Assistance: Assisted

  Win an Online League match - 10 G

Join an Online League by going to Xbox Live>Online Game Modes>Online Leagues>Search Leagues. Now in League name just put 'a' and search. Select a non-private league with a bunch of members in and challenge a random person. If you want to make it easier then set up your own league and invite a friend.

  Reach legendary status for your club- 40 G

This requires you to play 2 full seasons (of 30+ matches a season) and will unlock when you win your 2nd league title which will occur at the end of the 2nd season of Be a Pro Seasons Mode and can be entered by going to Game Modes>Be a Pro: Seasons. A few things that need to happen for you to reach legendary status and a few tips:

• You must have won 2 league titles
• You must be Captain for your club when you win your 2nd league title

This will unlock while you go for the 'Living Legend' achievement.

  Reach legendary status for your country - 50 G

This requires you to play 4 full seasons (30+ matches) and will unlock when you win the International Cup which occurs at the end of the 4th season of Be a Pro Seasons Mode which can be entered by going to Game Modes>Be a Pro: Seasons. A few things that need to happen for you to reach legendary status and a few tips:

• Must be Captain of your country by the time you win the International Cup final
• Must recieve a overall rating of 6.0+ at the end of each season otherwise you will more than likely not become captain
• Your player's home country must be playable in Fifa 09 otherwise they will not be able to play in the International Cup
• I suggest that you select your player to be a striker as it is the easiest to play well and you will achieve higher ratings

  Catch the A.Bell Fever by beating the creator or someone who has already has the fever - 20 G

This is a viral achievement that you will earn if you beat someone over Xbox Live who already has the achievement. Play loads of ranked matches until you get it. If you can't win or can't find anyone with the achievement, not that you shouldn't seeing as it has spread very well, then get a friend who has the achievement to help you.

  Successfully perfom a pass that switches the play from one flank to the other - 5 G

  Score twenty goals in the arena - 15 G

When you load up the game or start a new match you will find yourself controlling a player in the arena before entering the menu/match, score 20 goals and you will unlock this. You will also unlock "Gimme Five" whilst going for this achievement.

  Score five goals in the arena - 5 G

When you load up the game or start a new match you will find yourself controlling a player in the arena before entering the menu/match, score 5 goals and you will unlock this.

  Win a game with adidas Live Season enabled - 10 G

Make sure you activated Adidas Live Season when you first put the game in and check that you have the latest update by going to Adidas Live Season>Download Latest Update. Now just start an exhibition match and simply win the match.

   Play for over 50 hours - 1 G

  Win a game whilst not signed in to Xbox LIVE - 10 G

Unplug your wireless adapter or ethernet cable from your 360 and make sure you profile is still signed in but in an offline state then win the match.

  Win a FIFA 09 Clubs match with your club - 20 G

Fifa 09 Clubs is a new feature that allows you to basically play Be A Pro online with up to 20 people in a online match (10v10).

Join a club by going to Xbox Live>Online Game Modes>Fifa 09 Clubs>Club Rankings and selecting one of the clubs there, or organise your own club with a few friends. Now you have to play and win a match together, this requires that 3 or more players from your club enter the Dressing Room. Once they are there, search for a game and then win that match.

You can usually find a few clubs which are created for this achievement, search for "ach" or "achievement" in hope of finding one.

  Win with a team of 11 created players in an unranked Xbox LIVE match - 20 G

Firstly go to Manage Teams>Creation Zone and create 11 players(create some subs as well if you want), preferably 1 Goalkeeper, 4 Defenders, 4 Midfielders and 2 Strikers. Make sure you assign each of them to the same team and now go and edit the squad of the team you assigned the players to in Team Management and place ALL 11 of these players in the starting line up.

Next you need to start an unranked Xbox Live match and win it, I suggest you get a friend to help you with this because you will have a hard to winning normally unless you match up with a really unskilled player.

  Keep a clean sheet - 10 G

  Go into an online match after choosing your own arena player - 10 G

Go to My Fifa 09>Arena Player Selection and choose a new player. Now start any Xbox Live match, it should unlock as soon as the match starts.

Note: Some people have said this achievement is glitched but the majority unlocked it easily.

  Beat your favourite team with their rival - 10 G

Your favourite team is the team you selected when you first put in the Fifa 09 disc, if you can't remember who you chose then go to My Fifa 09>Fifa 09 Profiles>Profile Manager and look at the bottom of the screen, it should say your favourite team and their rival.

Start an exhibition match by playing as the favourite team you selected against your favourite team's rival and beat them.

  Play 5 consecutive matches without getting any cards (bookings must be enabled in the settings) - 40 G

Just be careful when you tackle, or don't tackle at all and just keep possession for 5 matches straight. As stated in the description, make sure bookings are enabled in the game settings menu.

  Upload 5 screenshots to EA Sports™ football world - 10 G

Go to arena mode or play a match and score a goal, then press X when the replay starts and press RS five times until you have upload 5 screenshots.

  Enter a match with 20 people in a Fifa Clubs Match  - 50 G

Fifa 09 Clubs is a new feature that allows you to basically play Be A Pro online with up to 20 people in an online match (10v10).

Possibly the hardest achievement in the game, you will more than likely need to boost this with 9 other people. Once you have 10 people, including yourself, in the Dressing Room keep searching for a match until you find another team of 10. If you don't find a team of 10 then get your team to quit back to the Dressing Room and try again.

  Score 2500 points and win 5 badges in a single Lounge Mode match - 60 G

To start a Lounge match go to Game Modes>Lounge Mode, select a 5 star team against a half star team. You earn points for scoring goals and earning badges, you lose points for conceding  goals, fouling, offsides...etc. Just make sure that you win by 15+goals and don't concede or foul too much as well as earning 5 of the following badges:

Score a Header
Score from a corner
Score a freekick
Keep your starting line up on for 85 minutes or more
Score a Hattrick
Don't concede a goal
Score more than 10 goals
Score all goals in the penalty area
Don't give any fouls away
Don't give away any corners

  Score a headed goal with the shortest created player - 10 G

Create a player by going to Manage Teams>Creation Zone and create a player that is 4"11, is a striker and also put his Jumping, Heading and Strength attributes up. Now start a match, set the difficulty to Amateur and the timelimit to 20 minutes, with him in the starting lineup and keep crossing the ball into him until he scores a header.

  Win all gold Club Tournaments - 50 G

To unlock this you must win all the offline club tournaments. Go to Play Match> Tournaments > Club Tournament and you will be able to view all the tournaments you can enter. Every second trophy is a club tournament which you need to win to unlock this achievement, there are 6 club tournaments in total. Each tournament consists of 4 matches which you must win all of to win the tournament.

To enter a tournament you need a certain amount of skill points which is viewable on the left of the screen under the trophy info. It would be best to start off with the easiest tournament which costs only 100 skill points. Win the tournament so that you earn the bronze trophy, now you have to win that tournament 2 more times so that you earn the silver and gold trophies. You must do this for all 6 tournaments so that you have played 72 matches in total and won each trophy 3 times.

  Win All gold Online Tournaments - 50 G

This is the same as the "Club Tournament Mastery" achievement however this is for online tournaments instead which means it will be slightly harder unless you are a very skilled player. Go to Play Match > Tournaments > Online Tournament and press A to begin the tournament.

You must do the same for club tournaments, win each trophy 3 times and win all 6 tournaments. Chances are you will come up against tough opponents and lose in the later stages of the tournament. If you are losing DO NOT quit otherwise you will lose coins and a contract.

  Win the Gold World Trophy - 15 G

The "Gold World Trophy" is the highest trophy in the club tournament section of Ultimate Team. It requires 750 skill points to enter. If you want to easily win then make sure you set the difficulty to Amateur as it will be against the CPU however you will recieve less coins.

Like all other tournaments, this tournament has 3 different trophies, bronze, silver and gold. You need to win the gold trophy so you have to play through it 3 times. This tournament is also only 4 matches long.

  Win Gold Ultimate Team Trophy - 15 G

Just like the "Gold World Trophy", the "Ultimate Team Trophy" is the highest tournament you can enter however this one is online. This one also requires 750 skill points and you must beat it 3 times you earn the bronze, silver and finally gold trophy.

This time you aren't playing against the CPU but you are playing against other players around the world which will be tougher. All I can do to help you is to say just keep trying until you finally win.

  Open first Silver Pack - 5 G

Go to the "Buy, Trade, Collect" menu and then go to "Shop". Here you have the ability to buy Bronze, Silver or Gold card packs. Silver packs are only available after you have played 6 matches and can be purchased for 2,500 coins or for 40 Microsoft Points.

  Open first Gold Pack - 15 G

Go to the "Buy, Trade, Collect" menu and then go to "Shop". Here you have the ability to buy Bronze, Silver or Gold card packs. Gold packs are only available after you have played 12 matcheses and can be purchased for 5000 coins or 50 Microsoft Points.

  Upgrade to a Silver Rated Stadium - 10 G

This requires you to use a silver stadium card. If you have no luck finding one in packs then try and search for one in online "Trade" area located under the "Buy, Trade, Collect" menu.

Note: Using a gold rated stadium will not unlock the achievement, it has to be a silver rated stadium card.

  Complete an 11 player team page in the collection - 15 G

You should have noticed that you have a "Collection" in Ultimate Team; this is where cards you have selected will be stored. The collection contains a page for each team as well as badges, kits...etc. I recommend you use the trading area a lot as it is unlikely you will recieve an entire team just by buying card packs.

To unlock this achievement you need to store an entire 11 player team in your collection as well as their home kit, away kit and their team badge; each card must be of the same team. To store a card in your collection you need to choose the option, "Send to Collection" just after you recieve the card, once you have placed all 11 players of a team, their home kit, away kit and their badge in your collection you will unlock the achievement.

Note: Be careful not to store players you want to use as you cannot take them out of your collection once they are stored there.

  Obtain 11 gold players - 70 G

As you progress you will start to earn more and more coins meaning you can purchase gold card packs meaning you will begin to recieve gold rated players. To speed up the process you can also buy gold rated players from the trading area. Once you have 11 gold players in your squad the achievement will unlock.

  Obtain your first Gold Rated Manager - 5 G

Simply recieve a gold rated manager card by purchasing gold card packs or by buying from the trading area which is recommended if you have enough coins.
