Resident Evil 5 Weapons Guide

The great thing about Resident Evil 5 is that it has a great weapon choice, and each weapon can be upgraded throughout playthroughs.

Pistols

Pistols are your standard workhorse weapon. Ammo is frequent, and they can be very effective when just running through a level. Some have good headshot ratios, others have piercing power, but all in all, pistols are the gun you will use most of the time.

Beretta M92F

The Beretta is the first weapon you will get in the game, and you will most likely use it throughout your first playthrough. You can fully upgrade it on your first playthrough if you dump a lot of money into it, but odds are you won't. It has a pretty good critical hit ratio, especially when its fully upgraded, and it has a decent max firepower which tops out at 250. The clip size also gets to be crazy huge; when its fully upgraded it can hold an entire 100 bullets, which will free up your crowded inventory a lot because of its ability to hold two entire inventory slots of handgun ammo in your gun.
I would recommend upgrading critical hit first, and then capacity. Thats the sure way to go. Don't completely ignore the other categories, but focus on those.

Heckler and Koch P8

The only way to get this pistol is to buy it from the vendor. Its not too expensive, but it isn't really all that useful. Its got a useful piercing stat, but apart from that, the gun is just a slightly more powerful version of its predecessor. While this may sounds alright, it falls short in areas like clip capacity, with only 25, and there is no headshot critical. While this doesn't sound like too big of a deal, any experienced player will know that head shot criticals are essential to the game, and giving them up for piercing isn't worth it.
