Launched Guild Wars 2 to look at the log in menu when suddenly the game started updating. Turns out there's 85k files to download.

Could this possibly be Sylvari and Asura content? If so, could we see it in this BWE? EDIT: Nope. Maybe the next one....

Maybe this is the new higher level areas, plus the WvW dungeon thingy we talked about on the podcast. Although if that is the case and the asura/sylvari stuff is not in yet, this game is going to be huge file size wise.

Can we use the client from the last BWE? Or should I delete it and re-download it?

I think it's making you redownload everything, they like doing this type of thing in beta tests.

@EnchantedEcho: @Lukeweizer: You aren't re-downloading everything. It's a ~5 gig patch. Don't delete your old client. This will update everything to working order if you just let it.

The speculation is that this is higher level content being patched in, as well as the obvious fixes from the previous BWE.

@Subjugation: Just patched the old client, and as usual, it died with 2 files remaining.

@Lukeweizer: If you start it up again it should pick up where it left off unless the .dat somehow magically gets corrupted (pretty unlikely).

I have to re-download because of my new computer. Better do that tomorrow.

@RobbieMac: Congrats on the new pc man! Hopefully you can experience the game to your satisfaction with your new setup.

The number of files isn't a meaningful descriptor of how big a patch is. How many megabytes is the patch?

It took me a while to remember where I saved the files. I'm not at Uni for this download though, so it won't take two days of being left on constantly.

Thanks for the heads-up. Glad I downloaded this now, rather than on Friday. Looking forward to testing the improved client and the up-to-snuff shiny new server backend.

Gigabytes man. A fistful of Gigabytes and then some. Like 5 Gigs.

@Subjugation: Thanks, it was fun building it. Realize why people like building their PC's now and yes my computer far exceeds requirements now. So I should be good to go this time around (even though I still had a good experience last BWE, it can only get better).
