    Guild Wars 2 is an online RPG developed by ArenaNet, and continues the subscriptionless business model of the original Guild Wars. The game is set about 250 years after the events of its predecessor in a world devastated by the ancient elder dragons resurfacing after millennia of slumber.

    How much is this like GW1 I enjoyed that one at first but then fell off it hard once I hit the level cap and all there was to do was pvp

    There are tons of gameplay videos on YouTube that can answer this question better than anyone playing the game, as the general answer will be "not much like the first one at all" followed by an insane amount of explanation that could...as I said...be explained easier in a video or two.

    We are talking about the same game right?

    Guild wars 1 didn't truly START until you hit the level cap.

    This game takes a lot of the design principals of the original Guild Wars that many appreciate, but realizes it in a wholly open massively-multiplayer world. Along with that, they've also moved the genre forward in so many meaningful ways that it's hard to not appreciate their effort. I think this is plenty of 'something different, not Guild Wars 1, but significantly more...'.
