    Giant Bomb Guild Rules

Currently, the guild ruleset is a work in progress. We are definitely open to opinions and suggestions. Oh, and for any wondering, you can find out more about the guild here.

    Insta-kick-able Offences

These are acts which can result in an instant expulsion from the guild. Obviously, we'd prefer to be given proof before taking this action, but in some cases that is really hard and we acknowledge this. Currently (this is very much subject to change), we'll be operating on a kick first, ask questions later approach for these offences.

    • Blatant Griefing
    • Stealing
      - err, not the thief skill
    • Exploiting Guild Storage
    • Requisitioning Private Information
    • (possibly more as game mechanics which are open to abuse are found + suggestions, obviously)

    Two Strike Offences

These generally include things to do with behaviour. On the first offence, you'll be given a stern talking-to. On the second, you're gone. Again, this is subject to change.

These offences (if not caught in the act by a leader / officer) are only acted upon if the affected party reports the offence, though this is not necessarily the person who was targeted. Witnesses are preferable. Note, this allowance is because we can't read minds and can't tell in some cases whether a comment was done in jest or was simply abusive - it's up to you guys as individuals to decide whether to report something.

    • Sexist Comments
      - girls, boys and in-betweens are all accepted, and those who disagree can be damned. (I put this here to be very clear - I am personally very strict about this one)
    • Other Discriminatory Language
      - Racism, Ageism, etc.
    • Hateful Language & Extensive Verbal Abuse

These can be reported by private messaging us here or, assumably, in game.

    Allowable Actions

Also known as the "dude, take a fucking joke" category.

    • Swearing
    • General Tomfoolery

    ---

    The Cool Baby Concordat

These additional rules are absolutely not optional at all. No, really.

By joining the Giant Bomb GW2 Guild, one also agrees to...

    • Wear a top hat in game at all times (Top hats not provided. Alternative headwear is acceptable, providing they similarly exhibit an inborn sense of taste.)
    • Participate in drinking games during guild events.
    • Join any /dance party conducted in a guild-owned area, for as long as you are physically or mentally able.
    • (Additional suggestions welcome)

    Q & A

    Aren't these totally obvious?

Why, yes they are. Good of you to point that out. Still, it is preferable to have them presented up front.

    Who will enforce these rules?

    We will.

    Can I suggest more rules?

Definitely! You're pretty much as qualified to make rules as we are!

Are the rules under The Cool Baby Concordat for real?

Absolutely! The Cool Baby Concordat is a selection of rules which were created and agreed upon by all members under democratic processes. The creation of this ruleset may be seen in this very thread, and shall be preserved for future reference.

What about member activity / involvement / representation rules?

I know a bunch of you guys are asking this question. Currently, this is still in discussion. In my opinion, activity/involvement/representation shouldn't be a basis for expulsion. However - we, as leaders, are just representitives of you guys. Please present your suggestions here, and if they are reasonable and a bunch of you agree, they shall be made enforceable rules.

What's with the stupid topic name? / Why are you such a meme-tard?

Well Excuuuuuuuuuuuse Meeeeeee. It was a result of an ultimatum I proposed between me and Dark_Lord_Spam, because I've ended up writing a lot of this official-type stuff. Though I liked typing this up, it makes me seem like "more of a leader" than the other two, which is absolutely not the case. Anywho, I like the sound of it.

Ask away if you have any more questions!

See? This is way more coherent and organized than if I had done it. I am sorry for disappearing earlier though, it's what happens when I try to multi-task.

    @Maystack: : )

@fullmetal5550: This guild is for Guild Wars 2 - when you see a thread in the GB Forums landing page, the sub-forum it's in is under the topic title in dark grey. Also, when you are in a topic, at the top of the screen (under Giant Bomb's red navigation bar), the sub-forum the topic is from is displayed.

I'm not sure if I see the point of adding an introduction statement to the first post >_> sorry.

@Dark_Lord_Spam: Lol - well, you have my skype details. Give me a buzz at some point.

I expect to see multiple uses of words like concordat, manifesto, treatise, regiment and fracas. To expect any less would be a detriment to Lincoln's name.

I think there needs to be a rule about requiring members to wear top hats at all times.

In game, of course. It's optional in real life.

    I put forward a motion to establish a joke rules section above. Probably something like this;

    The Cool Baby Concordat

These rules are absolutely not optional at all. No, really.

@Dark_Lord_Spam: Motion passed, The Cool Baby Concordat has been attached to the formal Giant Bomb Guild Wars 2 Guild Rules (AKA. The Luchadeer Manifesto).

Well, until it gets lame anyway.

I suggest we ammend the first note of the Cool Baby Concordat to include all hats (aside from your standard boring baseball cap), not just ones of the top hat variety. I have several hats that I wish to wear while in-game, yet sadly none are of the top hat variety.

I'm already planning on rocking an afro on my character. A top hat on top would be just too awesome to pass up. We don't need a rule to compel us, top hats will naturally be the most worn hats in the game (assuming they're available).

As part of the cool baby concordant I vote to add the line (or something similar), "When the conversation goes sour, you must discuss the awesomeness of cheese". This wording was worked out by Trayal, Gotta give credit where credit is due. After extensive testing this evening it has proven to be insanely effective at defusing all manner of guild chat friction.

Heavily aged cheeses actually have little or no lactose in them. So the lactose intolerant can appreciate a fine aged cheese just like the rest of us. They cant appreciate the glory of easy cheese though. =/

My plan of world domination is working. Easy cheese lives on!

Also, I am lactose intolerant and yet I still continue to use it in almost everything. Forcing your body to do something it doesn't want to is always the best course of action.
