That's a lot of bands. Considering the frequency with with music is added to the rhythm game universe, I'm finding it harder and harder to get excited about raw lists of artists, you know what I mean? It's reached such a critical mass that a more interesting list would be one that shows major bands who haven't signed over to Guitar Hero or Rock Band and lists the reasons why.

Like this...
  • Led Zeppelin: Too old to understand new-fangled video game technology, thinks ghosts will steal their masters.
  • Y&T: No one has asked, no one plans to.
  • Limp Bikzit: Fred Durst recently posted a video showing him with an EA backpack, claiming that he met with the Rock Band people to put them in the game. In case you were wondering what the bottom of the rhythm game barrel looks like, we're getting pretty close.
  • Nickelback: I'M NOT WORKING FOR MCDONALDS I'M NOT WORKING FOR MCDONALDS I'M NOT WORKING FOR MCDONALDS

It's nice to at least have an idea of what's going to be in the game.

#3 Posted by Bubahula (2197 posts) -

:D seems like a good lineup

#4 Posted by Naughton (188 posts) -

Hopefully Limp Bizkit never gets anywhere near Rock Band.

Oh Nickelback, you deserve to work for McDonalds.  That's not a good thing either.

Only 4 bands I like on that whole list.

Curious as to which Elton John song...

#7 Posted by MatthewMeadows (588 posts) -

Kaiser Chiefs! :)

#8 Posted by Slunks (328 posts) -

I hope they do some never seen before Rush songs. I'd like to see more than just Moving Pictures!

#9 Posted by Scooper (7882 posts) -

No Red Hot Chili Peppers... I'd like to play some crazy slap bass or riffs from the Blood Suger Sex Magic and Californication albums. Not if they edit them for the 12 rating or whatever it is, though.

King Crimson? Ok, I'm now interested.

#11 Posted by Ivanetc (168 posts) -

woah, band of horses, TVOTR and vampire weekend

hello bands that will become incredibly popular thanks to GH5!!!

#12 Edited by Rirobuge (163 posts) -

Glad to see Children of Bodom finally made it into the lineup... I still wont be wasting my money on this game.

#13 Posted by EmptyQuarter (92 posts) -

Dire Straits! Finally! (Shut up they're awesome.)

#14 Posted by thecombine (19 posts) -

Darkest Hour, Megadeth, Children of Bodom

Awesome.

#15 Posted by Daz0608 (384 posts) -

Arctic Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs!!!!!

Can't wait
#16 Posted by DannyJ (445 posts) -

Queen + David Bowie...

UNDER PRESSURE! YES!

Although I wish they would add more just Queen songs to these games

#17 Posted by Sparky_Buzzsaw (6041 posts) -

If the Killers' "All These Things I've Done" is in the game, they might have a sale.  I've been interested in getting either a Rock Band or Guitar Hero game for a while.

Children of Bodom in GH? Awesome.

And come on, you guys know that you would love to play some Limp Bizkit songs. Your dreams of being Fred Durst are almost complete!

MASSIVE improvement over the GH4 set list, I can't wait to see what they unveil for songs. Megadeth song better fuckin' be Holy Wars....They've done Symphony of Destruction and Hangar 18, now they have no excuse not to put in one of  the best thrash songs of all time in the game. With the listing of "David Bowie and Queen" I think it's safe to assume Under Pressure is going to be in the game, which is pretty sweet. I thought the GH Franchise was done, but this just made me a lot more interested in the next game...

Wow. King Crimson is a real surprise. But, I'm not paying another $60 for this. I'm content with building my own track lists with the DLC.

#21 Posted by spiceninja (3055 posts) -

I think I'll wait for all of it to become Rock Band DLC. It'll happen eventually.

#22 Posted by Dethfish (3618 posts) -

This looks like it could be better than the GHWT lineup, but that's not saying a whole lot.

#23 Posted by Linkyshinks (9881 posts) -

Nice varied line up.

#24 Posted by HandsomeDead (11863 posts) -

AFI means i'm going to have to buy this after all.

#25 Posted by SoulEdgeSlayer (534 posts) -

Hmm...even though I haven't bought a rhythm game since Rock Band, and I really had no plans to, this list is pretty good looking.  I am excited to see which Johnny Cash, Queen, Peter Frampton, and T-Rex songs they pick.

But damn, I want some Led Zeppelin in my rhythm games.  I am actually listening to them as I post this, and I was really hoping to see them on the list.  If either Rock Band or Guitar Hero get Led in them, I will buy that game.

Trust me, I'm sure it's not gonna be from Rust in Peace or Peace Sells. I have this weird feeling..

@SoulEdgeSlayer:
I think they should just make a Guitar Hero or Rock Band Led Zeppelin.
#28 Posted by DavidSnakes (675 posts) -

I've never cared less for this genre than I do now

#29 Edited by Tiwi (1401 posts) -

I WANT F**ing DIMUR BORGIR, IMORTAL, ENSIFERUM! WHY IS THERE NO BLACK, FOLK AND VIKING METAL===???

#30 Posted by Curufinwe (1235 posts) -

Smashing Pumpkins need their own GH game with rarer stuff like The Aeroplane Flies High on it.

#31 Posted by Caddy (308 posts) -

It's about time that we see more Rolling Stones in these games. Now, I just hope they have a good song.

#32 Posted by JohnDudebro (924 posts) -

Actually, there was a Nickelback song as DLC for World Tour a while ago. It's pretty fun.

#33 Edited by floorswine (169 posts) -

My god that Fred Durst link was totally unwarranted!!

I just watched it and had horrendous flashbacks to the days of big shorts, ridiculous lyrics and mysogynistic nonsensical chest-beating. Let's leave the early 2000's where they belong, yeah? Up Satan's anus.

EDIT: Nickleback are media WHORES!!!

#34 Posted by Erock (34 posts) -

Majority of these bands already in rock band DLC.

#35 Posted by Tranman409 (9 posts) -

No Paramore!??!?! sad face

#36 Posted by JoblessTerence (349 posts) -

Rammstein!?! Sold!

#37 Posted by Tolkienfanatic (99 posts) -

Still no Black Dahlia Murder.  What the hell!

#38 Posted by Mr_Bauer (398 posts) -

Scars On Broadway?.. Hell yea! :D

'Bout time they're shown some love.

#39 Posted by Pappasman (119 posts) -

Actually, as much as I hated the idea of single band focused rhythm games, this would be awesome.
#41 Posted by Djstyles92 (952 posts) -

no taking back sunday, billy talent, chronic future or ac/dc means no buy

They Say was in Rockband 2 :p
#43 Posted by bulletclip6 (131 posts) -

the american attack attack should be on this list. not the uk band.

#44 Posted by goatmilk (181 posts) -

How'd they manage to get the White Stripes? Pretty pumped for this game now. Quite a few good artists in that list.

#45 Posted by Thunder (390 posts) -

they just need to stop making games and release it as DLC

yea but that was just one song, we need more. :P

Yuck. Children of Bodom is as heavy as the list gets. Bring me modern metal and I don't mean that half-emo "metalcore" bullshit.

Metallica hasn't made actual metal since 1992 and are still together/living (mostly) so they don't count.

Bring me Death or Necrophagist already! I'd even settle for Between the Buried and Me.

@tiwi: Since those subgenres are only really popular in a small corner of the world, I'd hold that even less likely. Frankly I don't think they're going to being in much metal until most of the install base has two kick drums. If they'd release more music that could make use of the additional kick, they'd find more people picking up that extra piece of equipment.

Queen & David Bowie = Under Pressure

#49 Posted by Cygnus_X89 (133 posts) -

At least Rush is on the list.

Darker My Love? Nice.

Also, for the record, I'm not working for McDonalds, either.
