Hey guys,
I thought id start this out by asking the best question for anyone who owns guitar hero 3.
Have you guys beaten through the fire and flames? if so on what difficulty and how much
did you have to practice.. yeah.

There's no way I'll be able to beat it on expert.

#3 Posted by aaron11291 (8 posts) -

Yea I've beaten it on expert, it took me a long time to finally get past the intro and once i did I passed the rest pretty easily, 4*ed it too doubt I'll ever get the 5*

#4 Posted by Jandurin (186 posts) -

I beat it on Medium.  I don't think I've even tried it on hard yet.

#5 Posted by x3ar (236 posts) -

yes i beat it on hard took me about 8 tries. the intro on expert is a bitch.

#6 Posted by xplodedd (1316 posts) -

are you kidding, in the middle of the song when hes like wooahhh woahh woahh.. the like 3 minute solo is pretty damn hard.

#7 Posted by Jonathan (654 posts) -

Beat in on medium. That's all I can handle for that song.

#8 Posted by aaron11291 (8 posts) -

The intro is easily the hardest part of the song... the solos are ridiculous too but at that point I would be all the way in the green and probably have star power so it would be easy to pass, not keep a multiplier though

same here, the song is insane.
#10 Posted by Shocker (2339 posts) -

I can beat it on hard. I tried once on expert and I don't think i got past 3% of it.

#11 Posted by Joru (311 posts) -

Beat it on expert, my max is 406k atm (4 stars) but I'm sure I can do better, it took me around 5 months of practicing the intro once in a while to do it but now I can do it consistantly 1hand or with tapping.

#12 Posted by Zoidy (187 posts) -

I have beaten it on expert. Took about a week of straight practice learning to tap the intro.

I'm stuck on 4 stars (537k) if only I could strum worth anything I could get 5 stars. (Always break combo several times in post insanity, grinding scales, and rampaging dragons)

#13 Posted by ValiantGoat (376 posts) -

Just beat it on expert a couple days ago. I probably spent a couple months practicing the intro, but I'd spend about 20 minutes on it once every couple weeks or so. I didn't get a 4* but I'll at least be able to get that. There's no way I'll ever 5* the song, unless I somehow get much much better.

#14 Edited by GameFreak315 (151 posts) -

On Expert, I have gotten 98% through it.  (I know, I lost on "You Rock!"...I forgot to practice tapping the end.  >_<)  Since then, I've been going down at 83%-ish.  I should take some time to get a little more consistent, but when I got the game in March, I never would have even imagined being able to do the intro.  I'm rather proud of myself.  :P

Edit!  Beat it last night.  ^_^

#15 Posted by Dickey (37 posts) -

I can smoke it on Hard, however if you can beat it on Expert you're a freakin mutant.

#16 Posted by Cdw01 (2 posts) -

I've almost full comboed it on medium, but I've had very little success learning to tap the intro on expert so have yet to get anywhere there. I don't remember ever even trying it on hard, but I don't think I'd have any trouble passing (now keeping combo is another story).

Two Months? I was originally practicing it but I'm not sure I want to commit to it and end up hating the song because of it.

#21 Posted by Zoidy (187 posts) -

Just got 5* on TTFAF with 571k! Go me!

#22 Posted by hazelnutman (1097 posts) -

Are you kidding! That song's a cakewalk! I got 100% on my first try!

I mean, I'm a total rock star baby. Nothing can stop me...

...on easy difficulty. :|

On medium.

#24 Posted by ChoopMaster (29 posts) -

I've beaten it on medium, tried hard (failed), tried expert (failed misearably)

#25 Edited by pause422 (6172 posts) -

beat it on expert 96% ,if the guitars were actually a big more truely accurate I could get 100% no doubt, since I can do that on a real guitar >.<

i'll never get any better than that on it though,i don't own the game, played it at a friends before, asked me to help him try to get through it.

#26 Posted by Shotaro (820 posts) -

beat it on hard, expert just takes the piss. The problem with Guitar Hero 3 is that they add in two guitar parts at one time, which is why its typically so damn hard, also you can't do what the guitarist that play the songs do (I forget the name of the actual technique but essentially the solos are arpeggios played really really fucking quickly using a slightly different strumming technique) and to master that would make me forget how to play the actual guitar properly.

#27 Posted by Demyx (3237 posts) -

I'm having trouble with the last fret, so Hard is kicking my ass on everything.

#28 Posted by SCOMGHCity (30 posts) -

I beat it on Hard (easy), EX (cake), Medium (er... kinda tricky) and Easy (HOLY WHAT IS THIS CRAP 1000 NOTES ZOMG)

:P

#29 Posted by Gyroz1989 (36 posts) -

#30 Posted by Manks (836 posts) -

On Medium, yes. On expert? No way. I have a friend who's friend has beaten it on expert. I don't believe it, but he says he was there when it happened. Don't ask me for a link, because he didn't record it. I'm skeptical of it too.
#32 Posted by Dj (913 posts) -

I never tried cause there is no point in me even trying; It's way beyond me.

#33 Posted by twenty0ne (3071 posts) -

Yes - on medium. :P

#34 Posted by tec3297 (1170 posts) -

on easy...lol

#35 Posted by MagusMaleficus (1035 posts) -

I'd rather stick my fingers in a blender than try to beat that song on Hard or Expert. I managed to beat it on Easy and Medium--barely.

#36 Posted by Wolverine (4280 posts) -

Yeah on easy lol, that song is so hard.

#37 Posted by JohnDudebro (924 posts) -

I tried it some obscene amount of times, before I finally beat it on Expert.

There's one patch in the solo where you need to activate star power at exactly the right moment so it carries you through the crazy part but doesn't overwrite the next phrase. It's really tricky, and I haven't replicated it since.

I really hope they use the Rock Band earn-while-you-burn thing in World Tour, so I never have to worry about that again.

#38 Posted by Homer (1372 posts) -

Yes.

Yes I have.

#39 Posted by fitzer101 (6 posts) -

Very very satisfying song to complete!! I've only done it once, and I'm not really bothered going back to it ever again...

It doesn't hurt that the studio version of the song is a quickened sample of a slower playthrough, either.  The band can't manage this song very well live (much less anything else that they do).

Beat it on Hard the first time I tried it.

Expert is harder, but I prove that it's still possible.
#42 Posted by HazBazz (1901 posts) -

Beat it on medium. This, Raining Blood and Devil Went Down To Georgia are the only songs I can't beat on Hard.

#43 Posted by BranDong (238 posts) -

Beat it on hard... 3 measly stars...   I would love to be able to beat it on expert and also get the achievement for 3 star power activations but I can't even get passed the intro.. I need to learn how to tap.. or do the rubber band HAX

#44 Posted by Ossi (1229 posts) -

I've beaten it on hard, not expert - that's ridiculous.

#45 Posted by Bouke (1402 posts) -

No, i haven't beaten TTFATF cause its so HARD! And i like playing the other songs way more!

#46 Posted by calf_exercises (858 posts) -

On medium, I never even thought for a seccond I should waste valuable hours practicing on hard untill I could get it.

#47 Posted by MattyFTM (14350 posts) -

Only on easy. I suck at GH.

#48 Posted by Joru (311 posts) -

i finally got consistent on this song so now I can pass it without star power almost every time. Can't strum atall though so still stuck on 430k... and I don't like that song atall so I'm not going to practice it. It's kindof fun though, mostly because it's really tough. Once in a while I go back to GH3 to play devil went down to georgia and this just so my hand starts to move as fast as it can (don't know why it helps.... but it does. I always use it to get up to speed after not playing for a while).

Medium? Yes. Anything higher? No fucking way.

#50 Posted by RHCPfan24 (8609 posts) -

I beat it on medium.  I am special.

I don't know how it is possible on expert.  If you have done it, you should be proud and scared at all the time you wasted too.
