What have they been working on!?!?! Seriously, that flop Left4Dead?
I dunno, I am kind of interested in Left4Dead and really want to see how it turns out(its not going to be a dud because well, its Valve). But come on, no Chronicles of Gordon Freeman until 2010? :(

Half-Life 2
Game » consists of 18 releases. Released Nov 16, 2004
Several years after the Black Mesa disaster, Gordon Freeman awakens from stasis to aid a resistance movement against the Combine, a collective of trans-dimensional aliens that have conquered Earth.
Half Life 2: Episode 3 not till 2010!
That is what I almost think about at this point, I mean just work on a new engine and all new assets. I mean I am not going to cry that its still on Source or anything but then again who would they really attract by making a new, prettier and more involved game? I mean they already have me sold... and its not like in the 3rd expansion in the 2nd installment of a franchise some random kid is going to see this and be like .... OOOOOOOO AHHHHHH!
"Seriously, that flop Left4Dead?]"Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
But yeah, they should just start on HL3 now. Their beginning to milk the franchise.

at least i'll have time to have an episode before they release the next one!
Seriously,....that sucks. If i have to wait that long, i want HL3, not episode 3.
You had me lol at "dud". Left 4 Dead is a Valve game of the very highest caliber, a game that is far more complex than it may look on the surface. Fuck Episode 3, I would much rather have Left 4 Dead right now, especially with RE5 now coming in 2009 it will be the Zombie fix many need.

the only way i could possibly see this as a plus is maybe since we have to wait 2 more years that its gonna be long and epic, maybe they'll schedule it to release with portal 2! and maybe a multiplayer game? maybe deathmatch 2 or the next counterstrike thing? OPTIMISM FTW
"AaronBelfast said:At first were they not saying 9 month development cycles for each new episode? I mean I am just about as big of a fan as you get but when Ep2 came out I kinda forgot a little bit of what happened in the original game since it was released like 3 years prior to Episode 2 being released."WickedCobra03 said:Seriously. "Left 4 Dead is being developed by Turtle Rock, so what the Half-Life guys are doing with their time is beyond me. Maybe engine stuff."I'm actually hoping HL2:Episode3 will be the last game to follow Gordon Freeman, as has been hinted at already, and be the first game to use a new engine by Valve. Otherwise there is really no excuse for how long they've taken to release Episode 1, 2 and now 3. Honestly i love Valve but they need to really look at improving their release dates, getting games out faster and on time for a change.

"If it's going to take this long to release each episode then what's the point in having an episodic format in the first place? When Episode 3 comes out it will have been 6 years since Half-Life 2 was released!"coming to think about it, its pretty ludicrous. I mean it doesn't even sound like their working on a game.
and from my understanding, they have got all the source and engine stuff done, why does it take so long...
hopefully this will be the last part of these games, I just want to see a conclusion to all this gordon freeman madness.
You know what, I could sit here and say episode 3 is just going to be portal with guns, but I'm not going to.
Seeing as how ep 2 was a total blast in its own right, and yet came in a pack with TF2 and portal, two more great games, I have to say I'm not worried at all about the quality of ep 3. And I look forward to the ep 3 + left for dead pack.
But 2010 & source? Have a hard time picturing that. Looking at Far Cry 2 and Crysis: they're already miles apart... Think what another two years will bring :/
Let's say I was even a fan of Half-Life, another great game during an economic downturn that just so happens to be packed with countless amazing games is the last thing I would want.

"BiffMcBlumpkin said:Valve have already said that they're not going to do any episodic gaming any more. Anyway, would you rather have waited 10 years for all the episodes to be made into one game or have three smaller games over like 4 years (HL2:Ep1 was released in 06)."Well this whole Episodic Content thing has just been a blinding success."
