So! An acquaintance of mine, Nate (AKA Ritts),  is working on a soundpack for HL2, and he wants the word spread, so I thought I'd let Giant Bomb know of the ridiculousness. This is the deal: He's rerecording every major sound effect in the game by making noises with his own voice into a microphone. So when you drive the car, you'll hear Nate making engine noises. When you fire a gun you'll hear him make quite a variety of BANG sounds. He rerecorded a bunch of silly lines with his shirt stuffed in his mouth for the Combine.

See for yourself, he's not done but he's got some work in progress videos up:
    Core Demo
    Antlion Demo
This is how Nate plays Nova Prospekt (Note: crazy staplegun and supershotgun are not part of the soundpack)
Edit: Found another one, posted by someone other than Nate. How odd.
    Ravenholm Demo

Pretty sure his YouTube account will make a post when he's done, and if not, I'll just update this thread.

Please no "this looks really stupid" comments... that's kind of the point. :-)
