Initial encounter was made as a sample to Half-Life, this package also included Team Fortress classic . The Half-Life section was titled "Half-Life: Day one" which had the first few levels of the game in it, when these levels ended it asked you if you wanted to buy the full game.
Basicly this is just a demo of Half-Life with the added extra of Team Fortress thrown in as a way to gain interest to people curious about the game.
