    Half-Minute Hero Review

In this very unique PSP game you'll have the ability to play it from different modes. Each mode will give you a different taste of game play, and if you are able to successfully navigate through the entire game you'll notice that this game will indeed take longer than half a minute. Some of the modes will have you trying to get from one end of the map to another while dealing with random encounters. Another mode will have you shooting in 4 different directions as you try to navigate a stage to collect an item, and then return from where you started.

This game, in no way, is going to blow you away graphically, and its obvious that the developers of this game weren't trying to do that. Instead they have got the 8-bit route and if you played back in that era you'll be having wave upon wave of nostalgia. Each mode really does have a slightly different look to it, and the little difference are going to be noticed.

The music goes on the same path as the graphics.

The controls change for every mode, so you're going to have to be on your toes for this one. Its not that they are overly complex, but if you're jumping around from mode to mode you might find that you need a round or two to get the new scheme down.

Each mode has several levels in them in which you're going to have to try to accomplish something in 30 seconds. That's right we're talking a true half minute. Now don't fret there are ways to regain some of the lost time, but at a price. There's a lot of repetition in this game, no matter the mode you find yourself in, and it sometimes feels like you are almost playing the same thing with one additional thing added on. My recommendation is that you try to explore what each level has to offer a couple of times (because you're going to run out of time) because you might find that there's something that might help you defeat a seemingly impossible level.

As creating and unique as this game is, it really comes down to the grind that you're going to find yourself in, as well as a lot of trial and error. If you've got patience, or incredible luck, you're going to enjoy this game when you've finally completed it. If you don't, you're going to find a mode or two that you'll play, and then the game will sit on a shelf and collect dust. For me its a bit of both, and so I find that I've got to give this game a 7.2 out of 10.

A great PSP time waster 0

I'm not sure how many people use their portable devices in this fashion, but I am the type of person who picks up a psp for 20minutes before bed or while on a bus. Half-Minute Hero is the perfect game for that type of situation. Each level is self contained and takes a maximum of 5minutes to complete. That's not to say that they are all simple. As the game progresses the levels get more complex, and the two optional missions are less obvious.   The art style is cute, and the dialog pokes fun at ...

      Best Commute Game Ever 0

HMH is one of those games that may only appeal to a particular audience, but if you fit the bill, you're going to have a blast with this game.  There are a handful of game modes in HMH, but they all revolve around time as a limiting factor.  The meat of the game is a sped up JRPG that usually has you completing a quest that would take an hour+ in a real RPG in a couple minutes.  The games usually are actually longer than 30 seconds because you can spend gold to reset the time back to 30 seconds,...
