Preorder Halo ODST, Get Johnson
I haven't even played Halo 3, even though I did enjoy the first, and the second compelled me just enough to sit through the single player campaign. About that kind of "deal": Such things always pass by me. I rarely ever go get a game as soon as it's out, let alone pre-order it. I don't like the idea of this kind of "bonus" either.
Don't care. ODST is looking solid enough and its not like the fans aren't gonna buy it. If they want to bring in those who haven't made up their mind yet then they should probably offer something more....enticing? Maybe something that affects gameplay or something.
I think there is too much confusion in the world of video games now with all this DLC and extra content being thrown at every game. I mean do we really need announcements of timed exclusive map packs for Modern warfare 2 at this stage?. I think the video game world is going mad and it's only going to get worse.
Hmmm. Interesting. While a pre-order bonus isn't likely to make me go out and pre-order a game if I wasn't already going to, this is the second game this year that offered a pre-order bonus after I'd already decided I was going to get it. The other one was the electric blades with inFamous.
If anything I am more likely to not purchase the game when they pull junk like this =P seriously. I will probably get it though

I am more likely to pre-order it just because the game looks really damn good. I don't get the hate for the pre-ordering stuff, it isn't a big deal and everybody has the ability to get it. If you know you are going to buy the game why not pre-order? I guess this is just an added bonus. I guess I could see being upset if you weren't sure the game was going to be quality but most of the time they do stuff like this it is with big name proven franchises.
Fuck preorders. I've only ever preordered one game since the early Pokemon games -- Fable 2. And the pub games were a huge disappointment.
Nothing about this game is worth it really. It looks interesting but $60? Come on. Think I'll wait til it's a Platinum Hit.
I was probably already going to get this game this fall , so it doesn't really affect me. As far as they act of adding exclusive content if you pre-order at their store, I don't really have much of a problem with it. The extra content does not involve anything outside of the game itself, so if you weren't going to buy the game in the first place, it doesn't affect you outside of that particular game. What I have more of a problem with is forcing someone to buy a game to get a demo or into the beta of a completely different game, the most recent example being buying inFAMOUS to get into the Uncharted 2beta.
just kinda seems like the kinda thing that should be in the game anyway...the gold lancer makes sense, but in horde mode you could pick any character you wanted....
Eh, I'll probably end up getting the game, but I don't know if I'm so anxious to get it that I'll preorder it.
johnson is most halo fans favorite character and the actual content won't leave a lot of people without a significant chunk of the game, so if they're gonna bait pre-orders this is probably the best way of doing it....
Jeff! You hypocrite! You'll go out and buy all sort's of crap in term's of gaming memorabilia and the like which, as you've mentioned in the past, you end up selling anyway, but you hate this stuff! lol. The irony... That's why I like the giantbomb crew though, all there funny/insane quirk's.
I do think that there is a difference between the two but in the long run, the memorabilia and the bonus content are so similar that it dosn't make that much of a difference.
Also I would like to state for the record that I hate this bonus content stuff too. And for most people, they probably already realise that this ain't nothing amazing but a con.
