I was reading my gaming digg feed today and was interested in one because it mentioned Halo 3 which I happen to like. :)
http://xboxfocus.com/columns/2-the-xbox-guy/790-why-halo-3-underwhelmed/index.html
I don't really care about the whole article itself but what I do care about is what was said in the article in one sentence.
"Nonetheless, as per my usual arrogance and narcissm, I ignored the poor bastard like women ignore Jeff Gerstmann."
Does this guy know Jeff or does this type of attacking happen a lot in the gaming industry?
Halo 3
Game » consists of 17 releases. Released Sep 25, 2007
The conclusion to the original Halo trilogy has the super-soldier Master Chief joining forces with The Arbiter to finish off the threat of both the remaining Covenant Empire and the parasitic Flood, once and for all.
Halo 3/Jeff Gerstmann Article
Written by Steve Wysowski. Can anyone else find any dirt on this guy.
And from reading a few clips of his articles he sounds like an arrogant opinionated writer... oh how unique he must be.
Anyone with a last name that looks like it was created when someone accidentally dropped a glass on a keyboard cannot be trusted.
"Anyone with a last name that looks like it was created when someone accidentally dropped a glass on a keyboard cannot be trusted."Haha so true.
Well, this Steve whatchamacallit is just an arrogant prick. If we ignore him, maybe he'll dissolve into little corn kernels
Yeah, hey guys.
I'm sorry about the Jeff Gertsmann line in my most recent column. Kind of a "shock" joke, as I usually write up whatever first comes to mind (a blogging habit I suppose). It was rather rude, and I know I crossed a few boundaries that I probably wouldn't have wanted to.
Today, I looked back on it (before I noticed the rather negative feedback I got for it) and felt it was a bit overdone so I omitted it from my post. So, sorry Jeff; I always have appreciated you're work and that was exceedingly childish on my part. I do feel bad, so if you can, forgive me.
Once again, sincere apologies. I'll make a note of it in my next column.
"Yeah, hey guys. How do I know you're the real Wysowski?

Pics or it's a lie.
Wow, let's play "how many celebrity similes can I drop in my crappy-ass text"!
The past week I veraciously went in to Halo 3 like Cuba Gooding Jr. goes into a badly written comedy.
Then it struck me like a bitchslap from Cliff Bleziniski to Dennis Dyack; the guy was right.
How many more do you have in store?
"My email goes to Steve@XboxFocus.comOK I'll believe you, but let this be a warning and a lesson to you. Fuck with Gerstmann, you fuck with his crew.
You can email me if you'd like and I would respond."
Now watch this vid and be scared:
Well, I read the article, and the Gerstmann joke is gone.
Stylistically, man, you need to sharpen your english skills before you start making terrible jokes like that. I'm not usually a vulture about grammar and style, but it undermines your point when the crux of your argument is pivoted on the use of pretentious diction instead of insight.
A user a few post above made the point that you just name dropped a bunch of celebrites and compared them to somthing else in a very non funny way and I gotta agree because although I agree with your point I think those rubbish jokes undermine the point. But thats just my 2 pence.
"Its just a joke, calm down. I know all of you guys literally pray to Jeff, but I'm sure your God has no problem with a few friendly jokes.
I don't know what's more scary. System Shock 2 or the worshiping and idolization of Gerstmann & crew. He's human too, you know."
I like Jeff a lot and I respect him more than most other journalists in this industry, but I also do find the whole "Jeff as a god" mentality to be pretty stupid.
That said, the guy behind the article even described himself as arrogant and narcisstic. He sounds like a complete douche bag.

Agreed about the whole Jeff is god mentality but I still think the joke was over the line, especially since it wasn't funny.
"SpikeSpiegel said:Actually he could have had Google Statistics on his blogs so he could see where his traffic was coming from. Just a hunch but I think it would be possible..."How to did the guy find this thread? That is what I want to know..."He probably googles his name regularly =)"
But he probably just Googled his name because as he said himself he is a narcissistic bastard.
If he changed his name to Narcissistic bastard, then he wouldn't have so much trouble living up to his cognomen now would he? HAHAHA!
Man..............now I'm drained
