I think Master Chief's return in an FPS is definitely inevitable & I'd put serious $$$$ on the fact that it's going to be Halo 4 on the Xbox 720.
Can you imagine a stronger launch title for the next generation Xbox?
Halo 3
Game » consists of 17 releases. Released Sep 25, 2007
The conclusion to the original Halo trilogy has the super-soldier Master Chief joining forces with The Arbiter to finish off the threat of both the remaining Covenant Empire and the parasitic Flood, once and for all.
Is Master Chief's return inevitable? (Halo 4 on Xbox 720)
Something tells me that it won't happen...I mean bungie themselves said that the halo story was over with and that it wasn't about a halo 4 now...its about other streams of gaming that will continue the halo universe. And as far as ODST is concerned, I think its just the "HALO EFFECT" and that after a week goes by it won't really be that big of a deal. I mean applaud bungie for a making a different type of Halo FPS, but thats all it is....just a "different" type of FPS.
very possible, don't know if it would be a launch title because the first games that come out right away on a system are not usually that good. we'll also have to see how Reach does, because if it is balls to the wall, we might see a Halo game like that, and not Halo 1-3
also, anyone else think a Halo about the forerunners sounds like a good idea to take the series?
although if bungie and or microsoft can make a game that has everything i love from halo (the music, story, epicness, and integration) i could take that in place of another halo game.
" Probably, but I don't think it will be made by Bungie. And at that point, it'll probably stink. "Pretty much that.
I believe Reach has been identified as the absolute last game Bungie is going to have their hands in when it comes to the Halo universe. Although I have limited knowledge when it comes to copyright and branding, I do believe that Bungie also holds a huge part of the Master Chief universe (characters, ects). If we see Master Chief one last time, it'll probably be in Reach, but I don't expect more than a cameo.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no. This is one of those things where I almost expect myself to be wrong, but my gut tells me that, while there will most definitely be more games set in the Halo universe, I think the focus will shift to a different protagonist. Most likely not to the success of Bungie's main series of games, but that's a topic for another day.
They talked about this possibility on the last Bombcast, and I have to agree with their assessment. A Halo 4? No, but that doesn't rule out Master Chief's return. They could just make a game about his further adventures in a game that has nothing to do with giant rings of space death or the Covenant.
The end of Halo 3 was very very open. Showing the Chief in cryostasis on a direlect ship headed for a planet covered in lights and shit like that. Anything could happen. Maybe he'll meet up with the Native American hero of PREY and they'll team up and start an intergalactic team of space fighters who hold allegience only to the highest bidder? Master Chief needs to be in more games.

With the ending of Halo 3 being very inconclusive, I wouldn't be surprised if he did turn up again but it seems like Bungie are more interested in taking other angles in the Halo universe so if he does return in a Bungie game, I can't see it being soon.

On his quest to find a cure for aids, he picked up along his journeys. he will be back. microsoft will see to it.
They also said the same thing about Halo 3 and ODST. And correct me if I'm wrong... but Halo's been going longer than Call of Duty. Is it not already a franchise?" bungie said that halo reach was going to be their last game but since microsoft owns bungie (and microsoft wants money) i can probably see halo become a franchise like call of duty "
"i think bungie will probobally atleast think about it. a new (full) halo game would definitally sell EXTREMELY well but when you look at it, now that ODST is out and Reach is coming there really isn`t anywhere left in the Halo storyline that we know of left for them to go. They could always come up with some event and have a whole "20 years later the flood returned" kind of thing but that would be a pretty shitty idea.I think Master Chief's return in an FPS is definitely inevitable & I'd put serious $$$$ on the fact that it's going to be Halo 4 on the Xbox 720.

" @creamypies said:Yeah but they've made a spin-off game (Halo Wars), and have an anime in the works. They've also had comic books, novels and action figures made. To me... that spells franchise." @kermoosh said:not really, theres only been 5 halo games if you include halo wars and ODST, while the call of duty series has made probably around 12-15 games "They also said the same thing about Halo 3 and ODST.
