HALO 4: FORWARD UNTO DAWN-PART 3

Holy shit, that was awesome, war in Halo has never seemed so terrifying. My blood was up at the end so high!

When a youtube link becomes available I'll update.

I am eagerly awaiting that episode but I don't want whatever that Silverlight thing is

That was bloody intense! Between this and the Halo 4 launch trailer I can't help but wonder where's that goddamn Halo movie!

#4 Posted by ImHungry (376 posts) -

I continue to be confused as to why this isn't named Halo Fourward unto Dawn

The ending was awesome and the next episode looks intense with 117 showing up

I just have a question, when does this take place? In the Halo timeline that is, because I thought it took place after the events of Halo 3 but that's clearly not the case

I mean, they don't know what the Covenant are, what their ships look like and what elites are, I am confused

Also, MC shows up

Forward Unto Dawn takes place around 25-30 years before Halo 1, 2, 3 and 4, which takes place in 2552-2557.

why is the quality so terrible.

oh, it was doing the netflix thing. All fixed now

I genuinely thought that this episode was amazing, the emotion is ramping up with each new episode, and the feeling of awe and terror at the end when the ODST's are dropping, all from the perspective of these kids. Then when the atmospheric elevator falls shit gets real. Halo has always been from the perspective of such powerful characters, this is a nice change. Also watching a couple skinny kids watching this massive Elite loom toward them was priceless.

This episode was amazing. I really wish we got that Blomkamp Halo movie even though I still loved District 9. But with this series and the launch trailer I am pumped to be Master Chief again!

Thanks for the heads up!

While this episode was awesome as well, still prefer Episode 2. Lasky's journey in that was amazing. Doesn't matter though. Episode 4: OH GOD THE COVENANTS HERE MASTER CHIEF IS HERE BALLS OUT MADNESS YEEEEAAAA

Sooo good, I can't wait for the next episode.

#13 Posted by hangedtoaster (156 posts) -

Not to be super nitpicky with everyone saying that the Spartan we see through the camera is chief but it totally isn't. It's Spartan 104 aka Frederic, Supposedly the camera view is from Chief's helmet though. Dunno of there's any confirmation on that though. Not trying to tread on any toes here, I'm just picky with my Halo fiction.

This is so much better than it has any right to be. I guess if you stitch all the episodes together, you sort of end up with the Halo movie that everyone wanted, ya?

#15 Posted by Manhattan_Project (2119 posts) -

WERE THOSE THINGS FALLING AT THE END PEOPLE? Fuck.

@project343: Eh... I'm loving this but a big budget movie with Neill Blomkamp directing? Man, that could have been something special...

#16 Posted by PatODay (165 posts) -

@Manhattan_Project: Seriously, the bodies falling at the end were insane. I was not expecting that. I hope they sell this on Blu-ray, I would love to watch all the episodes uninterrupted in extremely high quality.

I had been ignoring these because I thought they'd be shit, but I was messing with Anniversary/Waypoint this morning and ended up watching all three parts on one sitting. This shouldn't be as good as it is, It's far better than a lot of TV out there. The whole end part of the third episode was great. I loved the bit where one of them looked through the window and the ODST troop drops in. Really, really well made.

They're doing a good job at making the Covenant intimidating again.

Yeah, I know right? When the ODST's started dropping shit got real. "This is not good" "ODST's dropping in is never good"

@project343: Yes, this is as close to a movie that I ever want, it is great, it has heart, and it does not rely on Holywood tropes, and too much CG to wreak it.

@hangedtoaster: You can hear his voice, it is from the perspective of Chief, also Fred is wearing the MK IV from Reach, great touch.

That Elite...and I'm hooked.

So surprisingly good and when can we expect more?

The first episode that didn't come across as a cheesy teen flick. Legitimately good! That Elite... that Elite was frightening!

#23 Posted by TheSouthernDandy (3805 posts) -

I was pretty into this already but the last five minutes...holy crap. Legitimately incredible cant wait for the rest. Why didn't that Halo movie happen??

Not gonna lie, went into this thinking it would be shit, I think we all did really. But, it's awesome! The production values are top notch and the acting ain't bad either, it's got me well and truly pumped for the rest. For Narnia!

#26 Posted by Syndrom (352 posts) -

anyone else think the chick is kinda hot? I'm a sucker for her lips.

#27 Posted by Dylabaloo (1549 posts) -

Well, this is really well done. I'm shocked at how good this series is.

I KNEW I recognized her from something.

Also, why does the elite seem to have four lights/"eyes" in the darkness?

#29 Posted by big_jon (5710 posts) -

@Syndrom: I do.

#30 Posted by murisan (1119 posts) -

@Syndrom: Yep. Dem lips. But dem teeth.. not so much. Still, I'd totally take her out for a nice dinner and movie, then date her so hard.

So uh, I watched the first 5 minutes of episode 1 and thought it was cheesy, terrible, and would show absolutely nothing that I had not seen before. But people seem to be enjoying this.

I guess I'll give it another chance? I hope it gets better because my patience for shitty, cheap, cheesy, short exposition videos about video games has really fucking plummeted these days

#32 Posted by Potts (159 posts) -

I just watched all 3 episodes. I was quite impressed! I only played Halo 1, and a couple hours of 2 (up until the point where you play as the Covenant dude,) but this is making me rethink my decision to skip the Halo games.

Should I play through 1-3, ODST & Reach? Any skippable? I'm more interested in the story, and have no interest in any multiplayer.

Good thing that's not what these are!

You were right, I gave it another chance and the quality was definitely higher than I thought, and it does get better.
