Simply titled Halo 4, the game will purportedly launch a new series of sequels developed by 343 Industries.

The new trailer closed out the conference in style, with a sequence involving Master Chief rescuing a glitching Cortana, and working his way through a semi-wrecked ship, all anti-gravity fabulous. The last shot showed the ship working its way into a massive portal. I'm just going to call it a Tannhauser Gate. Feel free to yell at me.

We'll bring you more on Halo 4 as it becomes available, but for now, chew on the slightly nebulous, but nonetheless tantalizing release date: Holiday, 2012.

The trailer had 343 industries logo on it, so I assume they're making it.

I for one like John and Cortana and I would be really excited to play a character-driven story about the two of them.

I fuckin' love the Bungie Halos, but if they manage to make this new trilogy completely separate from the original with only MC and Cortana as the constants, I'm fully on board.

He said a new trilogy for Xbox 360, didn't he? Does that put the kibosh on any new system talk? Assuming they do a new Halo every 2 years, this new trilogy won't be finished until 2016. I can't imagine the 360 still being their lead console then.
