I would be all for this... assuming that they don't mess with the weapons and keep the original Halo:CE artificial intelligence... the AI is Reach was frickin' awful and absolutely no fun to play against

I thought this was already debunked by 343 a month or so back when this rumor surfaced.  Regardless, I would buy a remake.

This would be the only remake I would every buy. Plus it would be nice to play Halo on xbox live since it never made it.

Seems kind of pointless to me.  I fired up Halo 1 over the summer and was quite pleased with how well it has aged.

Ughh..... I would prefer a Halo CE remake on a new generation of consoles, or at least a new engine. 

I've never played the first or the second halo game so If this is true I might have some interest in playing this.

I am going to say no to this...

I think this is awesome. However, since I own a copy of the original, I'm not sure I'd pick it up.

I hope this is true.  Even though the original Halo has aged better than most games that have been remade, I'd still be interested.

When I first read the headline, I was not feeling right in the head and at first mixed up 343 Industries with 38 Studios. When I realized my mistake, I was immediately less interested.

Better idea: make a new game. I love CE, but how much does it really need a remake?

This actually seems like a pretty good idea. It's a good way to get 343 into the swing of making Halo games, without having the pressure or making a full-blown new title. That, and a Halo: CE remake is guaranteed to sell well.

lame. it's not as if they are adding a bunch of new assets to the game. the landscapes will be spartan(sorry, couldn't resist).

This seems like a no brainer.  I would gladly pay for an updated Halo: CE.  It's been so long since I've played it.

I would love it if this came to PC and Gearbox was nowhere near the multiplayer.

That would be a brilliant move. I think a remake of Halo 2 is pushing it, but the 10 year anniversary would be a perfect time to release Combat Evolved on a new engine with today's consoles. I probably wouldn't buy it, but I'm personally burnt out on FPS games, likely for life. Though I'd be interested in seeing that story again in today's standards of graphics

Though I too would like to know why people suddenly hate the Reach engine.. Reach looked pretty effing good on this side of the monitor, and very stylized. To me, Reach felt like it captured the same style and feeling as Combat Evolved way more than 2 or 3 ever did.

Oh well.. haters gonna hate. Like it or not, Halo's been here for a decade, and an HD remake of the original is a perfect 10-year anniversary project. It's also a good testing pool for a developer taking on the Halo reins for the first time(?).

It's a good idea, there are likely a lot of people that have never played the original, and it'd be kind neat for them to see the orgins of everything.

How awesome would it be with an MGS HD remake though? Revisiting Outer Heaven in 4 was a good taste of it.

Since when is the Reach engine something to brag about?

I'd be very, very disappointed if this was the case instead of an all-new game (even if it was yet another prequel set during the Human-Covenant War), but I'd be lying to myself if I said I wouldn't buy it. Halo 1 was my favourite game in the series, and Reach had the best gameplay of the modern games.
