I've read that the game doesn't support co-op with this one about a month ago and haven't seen anything since. Anyone know more about this? Is it all splitscreen or online co-op too? Can I still play firefight matchmaking, and I play multiplayer matchmaking and singleplayer? Exactly what doesn't work?

Online Co-OP, Online FireFight, FileShare, Theatre, File Browser all require an official xbox 360 hard-drive. Slim only comes with a 4 gb memory unit, so none of the mentioned features work.
EDIT: Microsoft or Bungie haven't said anything about a fix.
I had to buy a 20gb hdd to use these features.

@R3Qui4M: So not even a 16GB flash drive would work?

No it isnt, your trying to spin it like its bungie or microsoft doing it to make people buy a HDD.

It's because flash sucks for high speed stuff. Try running starcraft 2 off a flash drive see what happens. Then go bitch.

I'm not trying to spin anything, dawg. I was just commenting on how shitty of a situation that is for people without HDDs.

1.flash speed isn't fast enough so halo games wont work via flash drives.

As for that yes TC they won't work for some reason with the 4 gig version of the slim, but bungie and microsoft are working on the matter they never intended for it to be that way.

WTF are you guys talking about flash drives not being fast enough? I install games on my flashdrive and they run just fine. Hell, flash drive speeds are actually a bit faster than HDD speeds when it comes to loading...

@Enigma777: I'm not 100% sure, but I think the issue is with the flash drives going through USB. Hard drives are faster because they go through SATA. If 360s had eSATA ports, then it would probably work.

But the drives aren't faster... Doesn't matter how fast SATA is if the real bottleneck is the mechanical drive itself (which is comparable to USB speeds). It's why SSD's are so much faster...

@Enigma777: I would guess that the HDDs are faster, at least on paper. USB's not very fast. This is still USB 2.0 were talkin' about.

@Enigma777 there's not much mechanical about a usb flash drive and the issue I see would be the bottleneck, even comparing sata 1 to usb 2.0, sata is still 2.5x faster. (150 MB/s vs. 60 MB/s)

USB2 is plenty fast for stuff like this.  The issue is to do with how MS implements it, that's all.  I've run full blown operating systems from Linux, to Windows and even OS X on USB flash drives and they're all a lot more complex than a simple game which loads data from large resource files.

MS just needs to pull its collective thumb out and fix this.
